Rumor: Brandon Roy - the Blazers franchise player who is signed for the next 4 years - wants old ass Andre Miller gone.
Rumor: The Blazers can get Devin Harris for Andre Miller because Andre Miller is super valuable like that.
I said it before and I'll say it again this reeks of the Blazers trying to pump up Andre's value...

Why would we want Andre Miller who is closer to being forced into retirement after receiving another fatal crossover (e.g. the video above) than Devin Harris, who while oft injured provides a spark whenever he is in?
Why Randolph?
No...no....no....
Who do you want then. you must like Devin Harris alot then. I am not mad at you he is a really nice player. I wouldn't want to trade him either. but I would trade him for Derek Fisher if it meant landing Melo. Just me, but I am not even a Nets fan. so I guess you know better than me.
Like some other people are saying, I don't think Melo will be impressed if he just has Andre Miller with him. Look at the Denver roster that he has and yet he still hasn't signed the extension. Devin Harris and Brook Lopez are the only two players that I've actually heard guys like LeBron and Melo specifically mention as good players so they know they aren't bad and to be honest, I think Melo would prefer to play with Devin than with Miller but that's just my opinion.
On top of this, by acquiring Miller I think it's more of a 'trading just to make a trade' type of deal. Any fan would look at an Andre Miller for Devin Harris deal and say:
Pros:
No more injuries
Consistent PG play
Good distributor
Cons:
Slower, less quick
Older and closer to end of career
Lost a former allstar
To me, it's a wash and you don't make wash trades. You make trades that make you better. A Harris for Miller deal doesn't make us better in the short term and especially not in the long term.

Re: Andre Miller?? What are we doing??
By the way, I also think that reports that NJ is unwilling to give up Harris without getting a starting caliber PG is true. Therefore, an alleged three team deal with Portland, Denver, and NJ has us sending Harris to Portland and Favors, Murphy, and picks to Denver, while we receive Melo and Andre Miller.
In this case, there's a difference in that NJ isn't trying to get Miller to make Melo happy but rather just to get a starting caliber PG back in trading Harris. I just don't think Melo would look at Miller as an improvement over Harris for this season and certainly not for the future. Therefore, I think (and I surely hope) this Portland-NJ deal is false.

My two-cents on how I think this rumor got started: NJ was interested in Harris for Miller AND BATUM. They would use Batum to trade for Melo, and keep Miller to replace Harris. Somebody misinterpreted this as the Nets want to reunite Miller and Melo in New Jersey.

Actually, that sounds pretty plausible on all sides since we've heard that Denver wants Batum. However, if Billy ever thought of doing a Harris for Miller deal, we're screwed for a long time.

point taken with Miller's contract, still dont believe this helps the Nets chances with Melo, convincing, etc...

just trying to put a positive spin to it...coz otherwise it makes no sense...but then again, we all knew the Murphy deal made no sense at the time it was made...so...

Re: Andre Miller?? What are we doing??
Harris' season has shown everything good and bad about him. His injury prone-ness and lack of vision will forever keep him from being a building block. That said his contract is very reasonable and he's a tough defending clutch PG. He has a positive trade value. If we're trading him and getting back Miller Portland better be sending something to Denver to reduce the price we're paying for Melo (No Favors).
