If the Hornets traded Peja's 15mil and could only get Jarrett Jack maybe it's best the Rockets just hold onto this expiring contact and wait for the off season to join the Melo sweepstakes.

It would be nice to see him play on a contender, possibly giving him a chance to compete in the Finals.

Or, they can trade him to Golden State to see the huge Asian population in the Bay Area go wild. Oracle Arena goes crazy just for Jeremy Lin whenever he touches the ball, I can't even imagine how intense the arena would be if Yao played for the home team.

I wonder what they expect in return. Personally I would take a flyer on him on the off chance that he could actually play some 20 mins per game in the future.

I'd trade Joel Anthony, Magloire and Arroyo for him. They can have the ghost of Jerry Stackhouse to round out the deal. PEACE.

Wouldn't the Ad Revenues outweight any potential savings on Yao's deal the Rockets could get?

I wonder which teams are in talks to acquire Yao. I can't see any value in him other than as an expiring.

You're right, insurance covering 8 mil and his jersey sales/other revenue hold no value.

They said the same thing last year. Sadly, Yao's career is over and even if he comes back how effective of a player can he be for an entire season?
