I wish we would play someone tall next to Lee.

Wright was the worst offender... Batuum got SEVEN offensive rebounds. Lee's man only got three... our centers gave up 5 to Camby. Nobody was rebounding offensively OR defensively.

I see it as a team issue, that the secondary off ball defenders don't block out. By the time a shot goes off, very few players are actually on their man, but instead they are out of position either trying to help out or simple they lost their man. D Wright is bad about trying to help and losing his man in the process.

The Blazers shot the ball terrible especially from 3 point range...5-18. The longer misses and terrible shooting creates a lot of opportunities for offensive rebounds too.

Not going to disagree about Ellis because he tends to be a bit lazy at times on the defensive end but Miller had 15 assists and went by Curry at will. Curry is a horrid defender. The difference between Curry and Ellis is that Ellis has some of the physical tools needed to be a very good defender and Curry doesn't.

So youre saying, on a defensive switch where say Monta is guarding Batum and Batum scores, its Dorells fault?

When Batum flies over Lee for an offensive board, when Cunningham gets an offensive board over him..its an easy fix. Box out regardless.
Lets Go Baron Davis...i dont care what jersey you put on. Lets go.
Big Smooth is focused and ready to handle the centers of the league.
Curry and Ellis will be a top 5 back court this season. 6/25/2010

A closer look will tell you what i've been saying all year.

This team has small room for error in order to win games...and that means against any team.

so Free throw shooing is damned important. Shooting a good percentage has to happen for us to win most nights. We only missed 2 against the Blazers.

We also have to keep the turnovers wayyyyyy down. We only had 12 against the blazers.

We'll rebound the ball better than we did in this game, but will we keep shooting our Ft's well? And will we continue to NOT turn the ball over?

Didn't a few of those assists come when Wes torched Monta off screens?

I'm as big a Monta fan as anyone here, but he does need to take another big step to become a reliable defender away from the ball. Needs more filmroom.

Did you see the rebounding replay with Monta?

He was standing and watching, when the ball was near him. Let Portland grab it and put it back in without any problem.

i agree that Monta is not great at defense (very good though), but surround him with better defenders at other positions and i think he'd be much better. his effort and energy is there. his mindset is there, now we are just waiting for better results.

No doubt Monta needs to step up his defensive effort but Curry is a far worse defender.

Boxing out is wasted in smallball, unless the smalls are on board. They usually aren't.

Udoh was the only guy boxing out.

Monta's defense has really slackened off. Last year, he was really aggressive, which is surprising because he was the focal point offensively. This year, he just seems content to reach. Very disappointed.

Agree on both pts.

Monta played solid D early in the year... I think Lee/Biedrins not being there/healthy plays a significant role. Back then, we were extremely likely to pull the defensive rebound if we got a defensive stop. Now, we're not that likely, with only Biedrins or Lee. Its demoralizing and it takes a toll on people, so I'm willing to forgive Monta/Curry/Reggie/Dorell for whats been tailing off defenses.

I've been very impressed with Curry's effort, but everyone else in that backcourt seems lazy.
