The Rockets are dangling Yao to acquire a good young player with an upside, if not an established talent.

Well ... that's good news, even though it's a shame it has come to this.

Yao + Brooks + Hill + Lee + Knicks 2012 pick = Paul + Okafor
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

No way Mr Alexander lets his cash cow go. Even if Yao doesnt play another game for the Rockets his value into China Market alone makes him untradeable. They will sign him to some Postion in the organazition so he can still be linked to the Rockets.

We'll give you Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince (expiring) for Yao and Battier in a flash.

IMHO since Yao is done for the season, it's going to be to trade him and then resign him. Most likely IMO the under the table agreement with Yao.

Makes the most sense though, highly DOUBT we'll be players in the free agency market to grab anyone big, right now is when Yao's value will be the highest ever since he's an expiring, he can be packaged for us to get someone awesome in return.

No to Paul and his meniscus-less knee.

No to Okafor for reason explained many times in other threads. Hell, I'd rather have Hill and see how far he can develop.

Haven't been paying close attn to the state of the league myself, but the potential guys we can expect to trade for obviously all belong to teams that are looking for cap relief. Throw in the looming negotiations as another factor. Anyone have a handle then on which teams are likely trade partners?

Yes, agree that it is sad that it's come to this. But I'm glad the ball is rolling at last (assuming it is in fact rolling ...)

I would definitely do that trade for Paul but what's the likelihood of that happening. I'm also glad the ball is rolling but don't see who we can realistically get that could turn things around. We are in a tough position when it comes to acquiring players because the only thing we need is a star, athletic big, or an upgrade at one of current positions in which we already have a good player(ex pg, sg, etc.). It's almost worse being an average team than a bad one because there aren't many players we'd be willing to trade for yet we obviously need to improve.

i was sort of hoping if it came to us trading yao we would be a third team in a melo deal and maybe get nene and fillers (possibly birdman even tho hes injury prone, hes a shotblocker that we need)

is that possible? would it improve our team? or am i delusional and blind cuz i like those two players?

He found a time machine that can give us those players circa 2004.
