I think it's the perfect time to trade Chris Kaman
IMO it's the perfect time to trade Chris Kaman while he still remains a pretty high value
Let's just be honest Chris Kaman and Blake Griffin can't really mix together with the style their playing. It proves already as we see Blake's stats after and before CK's injury (first 10 game).
With DeAndre Jordan playing ridiculously well lately, I think we have no point to pay Chris Kaman 26mil for the next 2 years.
Clips trade Chris Kaman + Fillers
Houston trade Yao Ming (8 mils cover by the insurance company) + Jordan Hill + draft picks
In this case Clips get a huge relief after this season and getting their big man of the future that can co-exit with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan
I think we should really try to trade Chris Kaman before the deadline this year while he still has relatively high value.

A handful of games where Kaman is at his best would do wonders for his trade value. Unfortunately, Kaman is almost a year removed from his all-star status.

Re: I think it's the perfect time to trade Chris Kaman
Chris Kaman's injured, so there's no way that this is the best or "perfect" time to trade him.
Judging them on those 10 games, while at least two of them Kaman didn't play a lot because he injured himself, and saying they can't work together is just ridiculous.
I mean, they did very well together in those about 8 pre-season games, when Kaman hit his shots.
So we'll first need Kaman back for some time and see how they work together in real games, before anyone can judge them being able to work together or not.
I've seen the wiretap as well and the only way I'd give a conference rival a center like Kaman is if they take on Baron as well.
So something like Yao + X(Jeffries and maybe one of their point guards) for Kaman and Baron could be something to look at, when the trading deadline arrives.
BTW: Jordan's playing solid right now, but he's still a liability on offense(especially if other teams need a way out and start fouling him) as his only offensive move is a slam dunk. He's also a RFA after the season and might not be that easy to retain, as some other teams might make a push for him.

Re: I think it's the perfect time to trade Chris Kaman
I think the Clippers will really take off once Kaman comes back. Even of he just comes back for 26 mpg and gets 10-7-1.5, that would be a huge upgrade. I would even hold onto Baron, i mean he is good for 8 Assists every night.I would look at dealing Butler/Smith/trade ex for some more talent and actually try make a push for the playoffs. Other pieces I would consider dealing are Foye and even Amino and or Bledsoe if it's a huge talent upgrade, perhaps at the small forward position. If I'm th GM, I might
want to focus on all the rebuilding teams like Washington, Sacramento, Clevland, Detroit, Indiana , etc. I will just throw some names out there: Jamison, Hinrich, JHoward, Delembert, Prince, Monroe. A pipe dream scenario might be with Indiana . Not sure where they stand on Granger, but I'm thinking if we could some how involve a third team to get them a solid power forward and we send Kaman to a team in need of a center. I don't know, maybe Kaman and Minisota's s future first round pick to Utah, Jefferson and Amino to Indiana and Granger to the Clippers. At that point, the Clippers would have border line all stars at pf, sg and sf. Baron would just focus on passing the ball to these guys. Deandre would just focus on rebounding and blocking shots, like he has been doing.

Are they willing to take on Baron as well, while not sending us crap contracts like the ones of Matt Carroll and/or Lasagna Diop?
I doubt it and a Kaman/Jordan/Diogu rotation is >>>> then a Jordan/Diogu rotation.
I just don't get why some people are so fast on shipping out a guy like Kaman(most of the time for hardly anything worth a damn in return), when you just can't have enough bigs on your roster, especially in the western conference.

^ I agree, Clippers might be better off keeping Kaman. He is 7 feet tall, he is a post up threat that draws a double team and he has a good face up game as well, which works well with Blake. I would hold on to him and Baron for that matter. I would prefer to ad talent to the roster by dealing guys like Butler and Smith ( expiring) and use some of our cap space. I would even ad Amino , Bledosoe and picks to acquire more talent.

I wouldn't touch the MIN first for next year. That pick could become one of the highest-valued assets outside of Blake.
I agree that we need to let Kaman play and raise his value again.

I wouldn't oppose to trading Kaman since DJ has come on, but he is one of the better centers in the NBA. When Kaman comes back we can see how he plays with the current team and if it isn't working out we can trade him.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I agree with ya on this. Kaman for T. Prince I would approve if Kaman doesn't work out. Kaman would be able to really be home more in Detroit.

Re: I think it's the perfect time to trade Chris Kaman
Meh Kaman is jut having his customary down season. Next season he will be playing All-NBA basketball.
I'd like to see him get back on the court and try to shake off the funk first. He may hold decent value right now, but not nearly where it could be. Kaman really fooled me this season. In early-mid October, he looked great (better than last year), but he's been terrible ever since. Injuries haven't helped. I'd be fine moving him or Baron if it is going to improve the team now and for the future. I don't want to see them dumped just to make a move, because they've been frustrating. It just has to make sense.

Re: I think it's the perfect time to trade Chris Kaman
I like how Barons playing atm and i think he finally is happy with the players around him so i dont wanna see him go if hes continuing to play like this.. Kaman on the other hand, see what hes got back from injury, him in form can only help us and DJ has shown he can play starter minutes and do it well.. so i say see how Kaman affects our team.. if its all negative i'd like to see him traded

Re: I think it's the perfect time to trade Chris Kaman
Since Kaman claims he knows his role, I think it's best to bring him off the bench. He would provide offense, rebounding and shotblocking for the 2nd unit. It would also mean Collins would remain on the bench for the rest of the season...and that is a win.

Because you like the Pistons?
I mean, a trade like this makes no sense, at all, for the Clippers.
We don't need to save $ on Kaman's contract, because he'll expire in 2012 and no matter how bad he's been playing this season, it's still better to have an 11 and 7 center then Tayshaun Prince(who we could sign this offseason), with Aminu showing some promise and Gomes in the mix at SF as well.
So please, at least try to think of trades that actually help our team improve(meaning at least a servicable center in return, if we do trade Kaman on his own), instead of just throwing Kaman away for next to nothing.

actually.. i do like the idea of bringing Kaman off the bench, i think Dj definately plays better with the starters.. more leadership/offence off the bench!

I'd agree with this. I've seen another 3 way trade on the trades and transactions board where the Clippers are receiving Brad Miller (signed through 2012/13 and making over 5 million in the final year of his contract), Shaun Livingston (3.5 million this year and next, team option for the same amount in 2012/13) and Yao Ming's contract in exchange for Kaman/Davis. To me a trade like this makes no sense from the Clipper perspective. Yes, it is a salary dump but comes with a significant downgrade at both C and PG with neither Miller or Livingston being close to an average NBA starter at their position.

Re: I think it's the perfect time to trade Chris Kaman
Raptor fan here. Would this kind of trade work for the Clippers?
CHA
give: Boris Diaw (9.0), Eduardo Najera (2.8)
get: Baron Davis (13.0)
LAC
give: Baron Davis (13.0), Chris Kaman (11.8)
get: TPE (11.8), Jose Calderon (9.0), Eduardo Najera (2.8), Joey Dorsey (0.8)
TOR
give: TPE (11.8), Jose Calderon (9.0), Joey Dorsey (0.8)
get: Chris Kaman (11.8), Boris Diaw (9.0)
Major cap relief and Calderon who can start while Bledsoe develops and is excellent off the bench after that. What do you guys think?

Re: I think it's the perfect time to trade Chris Kaman
No thanks.
It's basically the same 'ol Baron Davis for Jose Calderon deal, which also has us sending out Chris Kaman for Najera and Joey Dorsey.
So it would mean not saving much on Davis deal and giving away Kaman for next to nothing, which is not what we're looking for.
BTW: Toronto certainly wins this trade and, in reality, wouldn't be able to turn that TPE, Calderon and Dorsey into Kaman and another productive player like Diaw.
