He's gotta be better than Caracter doesn't he?

What's the 411 on this guy?

While I'm at it what about this guy? Sergei Lishouk?

Well he was drafted 59 out of 60 or some number like that. That should tell you he is not ready and should have stayed in school at lease 3 years. I bet you can find a lot of 6'10 type of guys all over the planted playing for some league. Lakers big mistake is trading all there 1st rounders and hoping that second rounders will be the future answer. Sorry it does not work that way. It just saves guarantee money..

In the last few years, who have the lakers missed out on by trading their picks? Crittendon, Greivis Vasquez, Toney Douglas? Which of these players do you trade Gasol for?

I think Elonu will be back with the Lakers next season to compete for the backup C spot.

This...about the only guy with some promise was J.Critt, the guy loved being here and I think he had a future. Sad to see he's out the league. But yeah we lost nothing by selling off and trading our 1's away, and as far as the 2011 pick going to Houston tell me who the hell is in college now that's got star written all over him ?

I read somewhere (LA Times I think) that the Lakers received Golden State's 2011 2nd round pick in the deal. If true they bascially moved down a few spots and can draft someone without guaranting a contract.

The Lakers have 4 2nd round picks in June's draft. They can always put the 2 higher picks together and trade them for a 1st rounder or just keep all 4.

Low-first rounders can be bought these days if need be. If I'm not mistaken Elonu was the guy Mitch was convinced would have been a borderline lotto talent had he stayed an extra year or two, so I guess he has potential. Haven't really heard anything about him recently, but we should still have his rights so if he turns into anything we should know.

He may be better than Caracter now, but let's not forget DC was beasting in SPL and looked OK in preseason. I'm willing to give him at least until the end of the year and even into next year to prove himself, he was definitely drafted with a better NBA skillset then Elonu. More upside too.

I think the only reason we are shoring up 2nd rounders is because their contracts need not be guaranteed. If someone impresses like Ebanks and DC, they'll get a contract or else they'll just be let go.
