Isn't this a sad tale? A ballboy with 36 posts with no credentials claim that he has source closed the ball organization which has informed him that we are now after Webster. The crazy **** is we are all fired up after that. The internet is really a great place, isn't it?

That seems easily arranged. With the investment this summer of our three 1sts in Wes Johnson, Martell Webster and Lazar Hayward, and then the addition of Beasley, its unlikely MIN will exercise its rights on Corey Brewer. There is also a rumor that Brewer was offered to move up in the draft.
Brewer has potential, and I think he leads the league in steals, but he just never seems to put it all together. Last season, the front office noticed a flaw in his jump that made him shoot off-balanced, and he had a remarkable turn-around in FG%, particularly shooting three's. He's got great athleticism and length, but he just doesn't pan out.
Webster's better, but I definitely agree that Brewer would be cheaper.
I don't know how much better Webster is. I'm the type of person that probably over-emphasizes defense. That's why I feel they're overall values are about the same.

MIN has a lot of youth and not enough minutes to develop them all. They would probably like future assets that don't require minutes, like a pick or a Euro. Expirings (2010 cap space) doesn't really help them - right now it looks like they will have to use their cap space by the trade deadline or else it will disappear. On the court, their biggest needs would be a PG who can run the show (they hope that's Rubio), an SG that can defend and maybe penetrate and dish, or a back-up defensive center. Still, I think they have most of their minutes accounted for this year, so the asset MIN would probably covet most is that CHA pick, since they will probably be losing their own in 2012 to LAC.
Right now they have been in discussions to move Telfair, or perhaps Ridnour, to EDIT (NYK). Like your boards, dreamers have focused on Iguodala, Monta Ellis and Mayo, for Kahn's "signature move" or trading their cap space to a team anxious to deal for Melo.

I don't dismiss ballboys. Is this conversation outside the realm of possibility?
BULLS: "Gee, that's a little expensive for Stephen Jackson. I wonder if I could get a better deal out of that inept David Kahn, if I asked for Webst ..."
BOBS: "OK, OK .. maybe we were asking a little too much! How about ...?"

The dude's D is absolutely horrific. And that is saying something if he can't get any burn on our terrible defensive team.
As for the trade, we are just poor trade partners, and I dont see it happening. The only asset that you'd be willing to trade is the bobcat's first, but I doubt you'd give that up for Webster
I'd totally be willing to do some trade that involves Corey Brewer though

Re: Rumor: Bulls Looking at Martell Webster
Why even trade for Webster if we already have Korver? Just start Korver.
If Thibs thinks that putting Bogans in is because he's a "threat" to shoot the 3, Korver IS a threat. Bogans is barely above average defensively. He's a liability on offense outweighs Korver's defensively.
At least Korver runs around screens and does something on offense. Brewer at least cuts to the basket. Bogans does nothing.
Adding Webster does really nothing for us.

James Johnson is better than Webster, so maybe the Bulls should just look to the cheaper option sitting on their bench waiting for a chance to play

If he's part of a trade for a player who will clearly upgrade our team, and he ends up on a team that will give him a chance then I'll be upset only because we didnt give him a chance but I'll be happy as a Bulls fan that we got better.
My belief as clearly stated several times is that if/when given consistent mins he will prove that he can be a valuable player. There's no way Thabo was a better player in his time here and he got many more opportunities and now he's starting for one of the best teams in the West in a specialised role, and JJ whilst not necessarily starter material right now, could very well be that 6th or 7th man for a good team who just comes in to provide the energy etc
People go on about how "stupid" Tyrus was/is, well yesterday the stupid guy had the go ahead basket and then blocked what looked like a sure layup on the other end to secure the Bobcats win, you live with the bad in the hopes that the good will come with more consistency
But yeah it will suck if I have to change my sig, I like it

JJ, Bogans, Scal for Webster works salary-wise.
That said, Webster has never shot better than 42.2% apart from the 8 games sample this season. I'll treat him as the very very last resort.

Wow, no offense to the vets, but a lot of ignorant Bulls fans on this board.
JJ better than Webster? Really guys? Same game as Kyle Korver?
If you think he's just a jumpshooter you're terribly wrong. He's a good athlete with great size who can not only shoot really well but put the ball on the floor. He's not a defensive stopper, but he's not terrible either.
He's been a terrific 6th man for the Wolves and one of the most consistent wings on the team. He finally fixed a long lingering back problem and is looking terrific so far.
His contract's pretty much a bargain, and I don't see Minny giving him up, even for the GOAT Taj Gibson.

This. Seriously how can people say that. However he is very fragile.
Martell Webster is way better than what we can offer but I do think we might have a chance by offering savings. I think Minny would end up getting a better deal from other teams.

Well I didn't take any offense to what you wrote since you're just an ignorant Heat fan, no offense ok?
JJ is better than Webster, have you ever even seen JJ play? I'm guessing you haven't, actually you may have seen him play against your team last season? One of the only games he was able to start since Luol was injured, and finally getting his chance he showed that he could contribute given the chance
Let's not dare compare him to the great Martell Webster who has been in the league for almost 6 seasons now and after a huge breakout allstar season has career averages of 8pts and 3 rebs, with less than 1 assist, half a steal and not even 1/3 of a block in 23 mins a game...numbers that Johnson has matched or exceeded in under 11 mins a game in this his 2nd season (assists, blocks and steals)
Johnson also has shot the ball pretty poorly over his career, yet still has a higher fg% than Webster, is a better rebounder and defender...how dare anyone insinuate JJ is better, in his 2nd season Webster was tearing up the league
Put JJ on a terrible team like the Twolves where he'd have an opportunity to play and he'd have much better all round numbers than Martell Scrubster

Wow, no offense to you, but a lot of ignorant fans addressing Bulls fans in this thread.
I don't defend JJ as being better than Webster (or better than just about anyone). My point is that you come in here calling others ignorant when your main argument is that Webster has been "consistent"-- when he has played all of 8 games. 8 games. Many of us watched Webster for years on Portland. We watched him be a more capablel SF than SG, which is one of the reasons why some of us wouldn't want to trade for him. We saw his physical tools, which made him capable of playing defense, and also saw him fail to use those tools for defense. For years. We saw him play streakily, sometimes putting together-- dare I say it?-- as many as 8 nice games in a row, only to fall back to earth later.
Maybe he has turned the corner and is everything that Minny hoped he would be, and we'll be able to forget the fact that Minny wanted the league to take action against Portland for having traded them an injured player. That might be. Also might not be. You're gonna need a whole lot more than 8 games to know. (And if you want to include summer league, I have a whole slew of guys who did likewise and who now wave "hi" from the D-League).
I have no personal stake in Martell Webster or his success. The Wolves and their fans deserve some good breaks. But I don't take kindly to the condescending accusations of ignorance (that have surfaced more than once in this thread) by people who base their own claims of consistency on an 8 game stretch. The very definition of irony.
