Why do people keep talking about this? Its like people didn't understand the answer the first, second or third time. The Knicks don't have the young talent that interest Denver. Look at the Knicks young pieces, look at the Nuggets team. They do not go together. Can we please move on from this and stop asking the same question. If we get Carmelo, its because Denver was forced into a corner. Not because we came even halfway close to having the best deal.

I agree that our youth doesn't interest Denver for whatever reason but how can you say they don't fit? We have Chandler and Gallo who are SFs and they are about to lose their SF so one of them can fit into that role. AR is a PF and they are not resigning Martin who is their starting PF so there is another hole we can fit for them. Fields is the only guy that one can argue doesn't fit a need since he is a SG and they have Afflalo who it seems they like a lot. I don't see how we don't have talent that fits their needs.

I'll break it down.

-Carmelo is one of the best scoring small forwards in the league
-Chandler isn't an elite scorer. Now what purpose on that team does he serve? He also said he doesn't want to play in Denver, so why settle for the rental of a guy like Wilson Chandler?
-Gallinari isn't an elite scorer or elite shooter...What purpose does he serve on that team? It's not just about replacing pg with pg, sg with sg, and sf with sf...
-Fields, you already addressed and his contract ends next season. That's another rental of a guy who was picked in the 2nd round...

Why would Denver have ANY interest in the Knicks pieces, if 2 of them are basically rentals and 1 of those rentals have no intentions of playing in Denver? It becomes a straight up trade of Melo for Gallo...In what world is that a fair deal, close to fair or almost halfway fair?

The guys we have don't fit into Denver's plan at all. It just doesn't make sense. It doesn't make them a promising young team and it doesn't make them a more competitive team. It doesn't do them any good.

The only real 'unattractive' part of the Knicks deal isn't the players.... it's that Denver would be trading him to the Knicks. That alone makes any offer from the Knicks less palatable and 'unattractive' in their eyes.

If Melo doesn't make it to NY, it's all on Melo now. He has the clear path to the team if he wants it. He's got 6 months to wait and the Knicks have the space to sign him. It's all up to him, if he signs elsewhere it's all his doing, he can't blame anyone else if he's then unhappy.

I get that they dont want what we have to offer because it doesnt "fit." But then how does budinger fit? I guess Hill fits even with Birdman signed for the next 4 years or however long. I just dont get that if we come up with a 1st round pick also, then why would Denver take 1st, budinger, hill, expiring over 1st, Gallo, Fields, exprining? That makes absolutely no sense to me unless they really are just trying to screw over Melo (while hurting themselves since Houston is in the West and were in the East) which would just be a terrible way to run a team.

Ask yourself, do you see any circumstance where Denver takes those pieces back for Carmelo? No, right? Ok. Just because players are reported to be offered, doesn't mean Denver is going to accept the offer.

Maybe Denver can bring in their owner to try to convince Wilson Chandler to agree to extend-and-trade with the Nuggets.

Do I really ? I am suprised i even get noticed . Are we giving up too much for Melo there. Or is the sight of Al Harrrington to much to bear . It is scary

We are giving up waaaay too much here, and it is hard to see where the value is going. Let's say that we are trading Gallo/Curry/AR for Melo. That's fine.

That means we are trading Chandler/Fields/Azibuike for Harrington and Ridnour? That is a very very tough pill to swallow.

Yes, that is godawful.

There is no way we trade all four of Gallinari, Chandler, Fields, and Randolph to get back Melo, even if Ridnour is included. Then you have us taking back Harrington's contract which is negative value?

If anything, this is a more likely trade:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=282axst

Memphis sends one of their 2011 1st round picks (Memphis or Utah's), NY sends their 2014 1st to Denver.

Denver also sends $22.8M in salaries, and only takes back $17.9M, saving them $4.9M, and $9.8 when accounting for luxury tax. Throw in $3M cash considerations and it's a pretty solid deal for them. They get out of Harrington's contract, save $12.8M, get 2 1st round picks, and Gallinari. Oh and add in Azubuike's 80% insured contract.

Knicks get Melo, our backup PG, and bench depth with Harrington.

We are not getting Melo in a trade just for Gallo and AR we must send at least Wilson and good chance Landry .

Then you don't comprehend the leverage we have over them. If Melo costs that much, let him go to Jersey.
