Agreed. JR Smith would be a step backwards as far as chemistry and attitude IMO. Plus N1 is bigger, better defensively, and we will have the right of first refusal (while JR will be UFA).

You can see the light bulb finally turning on in Nick Young's head. If he continues this trajectory, we're looking at a quality starter for years to come. He might not be all star capable, but neither is JR Smith. Why on earth would we want someone like JR Smith for Nick Young?

+1 - coming from someone who was always doing a facepalm when NY would hoist up brick after brick...

I think he is just giving the needle to pancakes, who traded Young for JR before the Gil trade.

LOL at Nick Young in the post game interview. The reported noted that the Wizards went a couple of minutes without a point guard and that Nick failed to raise his hand and volunteer for the role. Nick looked at him, laughed, and said "Nah, I like to play shooting guard".

Re: Official Trade Thread XV
My latest:
Wiz trade:
1) Blatche
2) Yi (expiring)
3) Thorton (expiring)
for:
1) Diaw
2) Diop
3) Minny 2012 uprotected 1st
Clips trade:
1) Baron
2) Kaman
for:
1) Blatche
2) Caroll
3) Najera
4) Yi (expiring)
5) Thorton (expiring)
Bobcats trade:
1) Diaw
2) Diop
3) Caroll
4) Najera
for:
1) Baron
2) Kaman
NEW LINEUPS:
Wiz:
PG: Wall/Hinrich
SG: Young/Hinrich/Martin
SF: Howard/Diaw
PF: Lewis/Diaw/Booker
C: McGee/Armstron/Diop
Bobcats:
PG: Baron/Augustine
SG: Jackson/Henderson
SF: Wallace/Brown
PF: Thomas/Kwame
C: Kaman/Muhammed
Clips:
PG: Bledsoe/Warren
SG: Gordon/Foye
SF: Aminu/Gomes
PF: Griffin/Smith
C: Blatche/Jordan
WHY FOR THE WIZ?
1) They agree to take on the crappy contract of Diop and to a lesser extent Diaw to get that unprotected Minny 1st.
WHY FOR THE Bobcats?
1) They want to win now. They basically trade Diaw and crap for Baron and Kaman. Baron has played well under Silas before.
WHY FOR THE CLIPS?
1) Blatche is an excellent fit next to Griffin because he can hit open jumpers. He's also big enough to defend centers if need be. He's also signed longterm to a very solid deal (for comparison's sake, Amir Johnson got paid more).
2) They get rid of Baron and Kaman's longterm deals for expirings. Huge money savings. They save 13 million next year (Blatche+Caroll+Najera make 50% of what Kaman+Baron make) and 4 million the last year (Baron makkes 14 million while Blatche+Caroll would make 10 million).

Re: Official Trade Thread XV
I'm assuming the pick comes from LAC? If so, I don't think the Clippers do it. They have a young center in D.Jordan and have other needs IMO. Since Minny doesn't look to be competitive any time soon, no need for them to give up a chance to find another piece just so they can play Blatche out of position.
That being said, I'm not against Blatche for Diaw+pick. Based on this, it looks like Charlotte will have their own first this year:

Blatche for Diaw and Charlotte's pick is fine with me.

When I saw Nick say that I was so happy. 1. It's a hilarious response and I love Nick Young for quotes like this, and 2. He's just starting to understand how to be a good SG, and I'm glad we didn't complicate things by trying him at the point. And I guess 3. I'm glad Nick Young knows he's not suited to play PG.
Could you imagine a team ran by NY at the point? Would he ever pass the ball? I can imagine NY being the kid in high school and college who always begged the coach to play the point, and when he finally got the chance was too excited about having the ball in his hands every single play that he ended up shooting 75% of the possessions.

Re: Official Trade Thread XV
I could not resists putting together a Dray BOYD trade based on Cleveland and Charlotte rumors. I don't know if Charlotte is still looking for a pointy guard and this probably needs some adjustments, but here's a nice homer trade.....
....
Was Out: A. Blatche, Y. Jianlian, A. Thornton & H. Armstrong
Was In: B. Diaw, D. Diop, CHA 2011 1st & MIA 2015 1st (insert other junk contracts instead of Diaw if necessary)
CLE Out: M. Williams, MIA 2012 1ST & MIA 2015 1st
CLE In: A. Blatche & A. Thornton
CHA Out: B. Diaw, D. Diop & CHA 2011 1st
CHA In: M. Williams, Y. Jianlian, H. Armstrong & MIA 2012 1st*
*Charlotte needs to receive the 2012 MIA 1st in order to be eligible to give up their own 2011 1st as they already traded their 2012 1st for Tyrus Thomas.
For Washington --> I know you guys are heartbroken to see all that talent roll out of town
, but it's a classic BOYD: we take on dud salary for draft picks. The 2015 Miami pick could be of particular value too, depending on how things break down Me-Hammy way. And we're basically clearing up some minutes for Seraphin and Booker. There are also other cruddy contracts that could be taken from Charlotte instead of Diaw, which might help the tank-stakes. Make no mistake, this would be one hell of an awful offensive team.
For Cleveland --> I'm accounting for Mo Williams having relatively negative value here; maybe they'd like Livingston to help balance their roster, but Blatche is an upside swing for them.
For Charlotte --> A win now move mixed with financial aspects in line with what we've been hearing; they might rather keep Diaw and send us some other clunkers. They of course have a terrible draft history, so that plays into things too.
Needs some value adjustments in there. Charlotte might try and get Booker or our second round pick and I don't think they can put protection on the 2011 pick with their 2012 pick out, so that complicates things too.

Re: Official Trade Thread XV
I prefer the Wizards make no trades because the system and IMO coach are diminishing the value of talented players, Blatche included. I think the smartest thing the Wizards can do is allow Wittman or Cassell to finish the season. Blatche needs to play less and bench players more.
I think keeping this roster and adding Sullinger or Williams from Arizona would give a low post scorer. Faried would give a lottery-worthy SF/PF. That is who I think the Wizards should draft but I am certain after touting Millsap and Blair that the Wizards won't draft. Faried is the anti-Blatche but he is a far better rebounder than Booker. When Faried makes the NBA he will improve because he us quick and will no longer have to face double and triple teams.
Faried will be Ariza, Chuck Hayes, and Ben Wallace morphed into one player.
As this is the trade thread and I digressed, the player I think the Wizards needs to try hard to trade Blatche for is Derrick Favors.
Maybe something like Blatche, Booker, and a future 1st for Derrick Favors and Johan Petro would work out well. Favors is enormously talented. He just needs time.

Trading for Favors is out of the question right now. NJ is only dangling him for the prospect of Carmelo coming to town, not for Andray Blatche. The upside of Favors is too great.
If we are really dealing with CLE, I'd like to see VArejao coming here. Our interior D would improve considerably.

Re: Official Trade Thread XV
Yeah, NJ wants Melo. The Wizards won't get Favors. I just think he and Batum are two players worth Blatche.
I like Varejao, if he's who CLE is dangling. I just doubt he's the one. Hickson is unhappy. That's the guy that CLE will leverage into more than Blatche in return is my guess.
Washington is liable to even get Jamison back for Blatche. I put nothing past EG, I can just see them talking about class and veteran leadership.

EG would be crazy to take back Jamison's contract, just to get rid of Blatche. What a step backwards that would be. Why bring back the embodiment of our major weakness over the Grunfeld era (inrterior D)? But you're right, I actually see it happening. As for Hickson, it would be ironic if we could end up getting him for Blatche, seeing as how he was virtually untouchable last year. I guess he's one of those guys that LeBron made look better. But here's something I wouldn't mind seeing:
Trade ID #5795153
CLE sends:
Varejao
Powe
WAS sends:
Blatche
Thornton
With Varejao, we get a guy that beefs up our interior D and isn't afraid to mix it up. He is also capable of hitting that 15 footer that Blatche seems to have forgotten how to shoot. In Powe, we get that low post scorer that would be beneficial in teaching guys Booker how to to score in the paint as an undersized 4.
Looking at the Cavs, they need some scoring punch from the forward position. Jamison has shown flashes of his old self, but they need to get younger at this position. Blatche gets a fresh start and a piece they can build around (since it seems we have given up on him). Jamison can also go back to the role of being his father and keep him in check. Thornton will play well with the additional minutes and may thrive in Byron Scott's offense.
The contract/ cap room situation doesn't change much for either team.

Cleveland will look to get rid of Boobie Gibson and or Hickson for Blatche..

Hickson would be OK if we were getting picks too. By himself, he's not worth it.
Varejao isn't worth losing developmental minutes for McGee/Seraphin/Booker. We don't need to win games this year.

We aren't getting Hickson. He alone represents Cleveland's future. They've attached an anchor to him when they refused to deal him to get the player LeBron truly needed to stay. He's sinking with that ship.
Funny thing is I wouldn't be surprised if Jamison is being offered back in return, lol.
