Traded donovan for him.

Great trade. We take a cap hit, but thats the only downside. Watch for schaefer to fight for a top 6 spot.

Also, PC has ties with him in ottawa.

Definitely an excellent move. Looks like a pure salary dump by the Sens as Schaefer is 10 times the player Donovan is. He obviously isn't a top line talent but I think he fits in with Savard and Murray pretty well with how good he is defensively (and how Savard and Murray don't play much D) and how strong he is along the boards (might be the best boards player in NHL).

So the lines now are what? I'd like to see something like this...
Schaefer-Savard-Murray
Sturm-Bergeron-Kobasew
Axe-Kessel-Bochenski
Reich-Thompson(tough kid from AHL)-Thornton

He is a left wing who plays an excellent defensive game, a very good PKer who can play some minutes on the PP as well, he wins just about every battle for the puck along the boards and can chip in 15 goals and 50 points.

Not a star by any means, but he can be a big help to every team in the league.

Good trade I agree... He'll probably end up on our second line.
