Pro Bowl rosters announced

Some things that caught my eye:
--Ndamukong Suh gets the start as a rookie. First Lions rookie to ever earn that honor...and he absolutely deserves it.
--Dallas got 5 players, or one for every win.
--Logan Mankins making the team after his holdout is a joke. Eric Steinbach or Vince Manuwai deserved it a lot more.
--Aaron Rodgers doesn't make it, though I have a hard time leaving any of the NFC QBs off for a guy who missed nearly 2 games. Vick deserves it more even with his lengthier absence.
--no Chris Johnson or Darren McFadden?
--Devin McCourty over Brandon Flowers or Leon Hall or Cortland Finnegan? Actually the more I think about it McCourty is more deserving than Revis.
--I could make a good argument against the entire starting NFC OL except Jordan Gross. No Ryan Kalil, the best center in the league this year? Carl Nicks was eons better than Chris Snee, probably better than Jahri Evans too. Jacob Bell was better than all of them. Rodger Saffold was better than Chad Clifton. Todd Herremans was better than Jason Peters on the Eagles most of the time.

Good to see Marcedes Lewis finally recognized by making the Pro-Bowl. Guy is a stud, and is equally good at blocking and receiving. If the Jaguars had a better QB, Lewis would be getting a lot more catches and yards. Good to see Montell Owens make it also, and major props to Kassim Osgood, who typically locks up this award, but decided to bow down and place Owens' name in the ballot instead.

Cannot believe that Rodgers got snubbed. Timmons/Dansby probably should have got it over Mayo, Gonzo over Vernon Davis is laughable, Flowers should have got in somewhere (though McCourty is a beast), and McFadden and Hillis should have got in, and Gurode should not be in.

Rodgers got screwed, as did Raji. Woodson wasn't even the best DB on the team.

Agreed I thought Vick and Ryan deserved it no doubt but Brees has been having a bit of an off year, 21 interceptions and a 92.2 ratings as opposed to Rodgers who has a 101.9 Rating despite the concussions

As a Patriots fan even I'm curious how Brandon Merriweather made the Pro Bowl when he's not even the best safety on his own team.

That seems to be the one that is getting a lot of attention. I didn't pick up on it at first but you're exactly right. I wonder how one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL gets two DBs in the Pro Bowl. Eric Berry was better, Jim Leonhard was better (but hurt), Donte Whitner was better, even Brian Dawkins was arguably just as good as often. Meriweather is one of those guys that is very good at times but other times you wonder if he's played the game before.

Re: Pro Bowl rosters announced
Merriweather definitely has the talent he just makes a lot of dumb plays. People thought he was going to be the next Rodney Harrison a year or two ago. In all fairness Patriots weak pass defense is basically due to their weak front 7. Wilfork is a very good nose tackle which goes unheralded stat-wise. Jerod Mayo, while really good, I don't think is Pro Bowl material quite yet. The tackling numbers probably throw people off. Outside of those guys, Pats have no pass rush whatsoever. QBs have a good amount of time to throw, which makes the whole defense look bad. GB's Flynn (his first name is escaping me) and Colt McCoy had great games against the Pats. nuff said.

Rodgers should have made it over Brees or Matty Ice.

Raji and Tramon Williams got snubbed big time, and before I'm accused of being a Packer homer, I don't think Clifton has any business being there and I'm not convinced Nick Collins earned his spot either.

Re: Pro Bowl rosters announced
^Yup, I thought Tramon Williams should've made it instead of Hall.
Surprised CJ2K didn't make it despite 1300 yards and 11 TDs
Chad Clifton? Logan Mankins? Really?
Kind of shocked to see Revis make it as a starter, I thought he would've made it as a reserve. I actually picked Flowers over Asomugha. Devin McCourty definitely deserves his spot, he's played fantastic for a rookie, him and Haden.
Rodgers should've made it, but this years NFC QB class was exceptional, hard to leave one out. Not saying Cutler would've made it, but if this was last year, he would've gone in IMO.

Re: Pro Bowl rosters announced
Both those quotes from ProFootbalFocus are incorrect. Raji has 3 sacks playing NT, you can't count the others and not do the same for other guys. Jay Ratliff got 7.5 two years ago and every one of them came from the nose. Shaun Rogers had a season of 6 all from the nose. Haloti Ngata has 7 (or 6.5 depending on your stat service) and he's techincally a nose tackle. Kyle Williams was playing nose in Buffalo before they switched back to a 4-3 and had at least 4 sacks from the nose.
And the CB thing is a distortion, at best. It's highly subjective game charting of what is most definitely a total team statistic. As an example, does Joe Haden get docked for the play in the Cincy game where he forgot he was supposed to be playing man and instead just stopped short, letting TO get a free release down the field with no safety there? Does Tramon Williams get docked for a play where he goes for the chuck on Calvin Johnson but whiffs, and then CJ torches the (late) safety help? Or when a zone breaks down because of a WR flood or a QB scramble/throw? It's been my experience that the game charters look and see who lined up against who to start the play, and/or then who was the closest DB when the pass was completed. But between those two there is a whole lot of margin for error and change. Even the guys at Football Outsiders will say as much. If that's the list he's referencing, that was thru Week 13. It also doesn't have any San Diego Charger CB in their top 25 even though at the time the Chargers led the league in QB rating against. Seeing as how they only play 2 CBs more than just about any other team (their nickel back is primarily a 3rd safety in Paul Oliver), and seldom play zone unless they're in nickel, that smells awful fishy...

What's crazy if Kassim is the first alternate for the Pro Bowl this year, too bad they both couldn't go. Also I am disappointed Terrance Knighton didn't even make the alternates list, he's been palying out of his mind this year.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Dallas has more players than the Bears (4 players). The Bears could end up having the #1 seed (#2 at worst) in the entire NFC & they're still disrespected by the national media.
I am not a Packer fan at all, but Drew Brees over Aaron Rodgers?........No way. Rodgers is up there with Tom Brady & Peyton Manning, IMHO. It's mind-boggling how Brees can throw over 20 ints & ESPN describes him as one of the best ever. Jay Cutler does it & he's considered a piece of s***. They are so obviously biased against the Bears, it's not even funny.

I look forward to an AFC-South dominated RB spot in the Pro Bowl with Mojo, Johnson, and Foster.
