Many of them are in storage boxes until we get our house this summer. I only take out the ones I would need for teaching or for my own school.

Calinks wrote:I just ordered my first E-reader and it should be here this week. I am currently reading through.

The Walking Dead series: Now up to volume 10!

Woken Furies: From the Takeshi Kovacs novels

Mass Effect: Retribution: Hey I love Mass Effect what can I say?

I should check out that zombie one.

I haven't read a good basketball book in years either so I might have to check out one of those.

What e-reader did you get? Why? My mother in law asked for my advice and all I could tell her was to stay from Amazon on account of their yanking certain titles (that one was 1984 is the king of all ironies).

Just finished another graphic novel. Crossed by Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows. The second of 3 that my brother gave me to read. Crossed was probably better than Black Summer. Very gruesome "zombie" apocalypse style story. I put zombie in quotes because it's a stretch to call it that. Closer to the 28 Days Later rage virus "zombies" as they weren't undead, except these ones could actually learn and even talk a bit (basically evil incarnate), so it's not a zombie story, but it's a zombie apocalypse STYLE story. Like many of my favorite fictional stories, the characters are forced into impossible situations and forced to make tough choices at every turn. If you can stomach intensely gruesome and graphic acts, it is a very good read. Now on to Wanted. Pretty soon I'm going to run out of stuff to read and I'll actually have to start studying for the MCAT full time...which I should be doing right now.

Well...now I finished Wanted about 20 minutes ago. The movie has almost nothing to do with the graphic novel. They basically just borrow the names Wesley Gibson, Fox and The Fraternity. The similarities outside of that are pretty slim. Well, my brother was 3 for 3 on his recommendations with Black Summer, Wanted and Crossed. I guess I'll be waiting for my books from Amazon now. Maybe I'll start this book my dad gave me...One Shot by Lee Child. I dunno. May as well see what it's like.

Anyone read "Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs", from Chuck Klosterman? The book is real funny and it's good for people with short attention spans, each chapter is an short essay about something completely random mostly pop culture stuff, everything from The Sims to Star Wars to Saved By the Bell.

Also "Eating the Dinosaur", (same kind of book from the same author) is good too.

I've read those. He's a pretty entertaining writer. He also wrote Fargo Rock City, Killing Yourself to Live, and Chuck Klosterman IV which are similar to the two you mentioned, and he wrote a novel called Downtown Owl that is obviously based on his experiences growing up in North Dakota that was solid. I'd recommend them, particularly his pre-novel books.

I read C.K IV but I didn't think it was as good as the other 2 and I just got "Fargo" and "Killing yourself to Live" for Christmas but I have never heard of "Downtown Owl" I might check that out.

I've been doing audiobooks lately as I spend about an hour and a half or so in the car every day, and "Downtown Owl" was one I listened to. I noticed in the reviews that the people that listened to the audiobook tended to rate it higher than those that had read the paperback. I would guess that is because each of the characters has a different voice-over actor reading. I liked this one quite a bit.

Just finished "The Road." Great imagery, but depressing. I liked it overall.

I also have read a few of Malcolm Gladwell's books, and I recommend them.

Just added a new book to my wish list. The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer. The average rating on amazon is 5/5 stars. 49 of the 55 reviews on Amazon give it 5 stars.

Just starting Edmund Morris' Teddy Roosevelt trilogy of books with The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt. It won the Pulitzer Prize, so it can't be too crappy...I would think.
