OT: Which seems least pathetic?

Post#1 » by breatnach » Fri Dec 31, 2010 10:18 am

After failing to get an invite to the same party my Ex is going to (think: drunken Ex-Sex), which of the following options is the least pathetic for New Years.

- Calling all of my friends and begging for a second invite, after having initially told them I was busy (thus officially making them "Plan B", which noone likes to be)
- Going to a club in town alone, spending a lot of money to be hungover tomorrow, but at least giving myself the illusion of not being alone. Option of finding a pair of lips to kiss, when the ball drops. Pretty sad, huh?
- Staying at home alone. Equally sad and lonely, but at least saving money in the process and not being hungover tomorrow.

Since I have a bit of a cold and don't really feel like gallavanting about until the wee hours of the morning I am actually considering staying home. Damn Wolves schedule. A Wolves game to watch would actually make this decision so much easier. If this were any regular Friday night, I wouldn't be in such a dilemma. But I just can't get over the feeling that staying at home alone on NYE is something I shouldn't be doing for like the next 40 years...

Least pathetic would be to throw your own party at home, and make sure not to invite those losers who didn't invite you to theirs. Instead, invite the friends that you were going to call and have be your "Plan B".

Turning the tables, that's how I roll.

You don't happen to live in Berlin, don't you? If you do, let me know. I gotta work tonight and the hotel bar will be dead empty the whole night.

Don't you have any other friend you could ask to hang out with?

Out of the three options I'd pick the 2nd one. Then again, it's not much of a deal for me to get to know random people in bars*. I'm sure you'll find a desperate chick to make out with, too. Also when you go out drinking, don't drink too much. Being piss poor drunk isn't that awesome. Being almost drunk is awesome because you usually don't have to suffer from a bad hangover the next day.

I'm glad the cinema isn't open tonight.

You're kind of in a dilemma breatnach. I wouldn't know what to do either. :-?

And basti your situation sucks, too. If I was you I'd probably lose a monthly wage at the mini bar.

I'm not dependent on tips luckily and working at the bar is only a part of my job. I'm not sad that I have to work as the hotel will be pretty much empty for the majority of my shift. My lady has to work, too and I'm actually not a fan of the new years party anyway.
The only thing that I miss is having fun with friends that night but I also could do that at any given day without the special cause.

I'm contemplating about going out for a drink when my shift will be over at 6.30 am. :D

Go out with your friends.

If they are good friends they will be more than happy to have you along. If you flaked on them to try and score with your ex-gf, you should apologize but they should understand. Your friends should always want you along unless you burned their houses down or something on that level of douchebaggery.

Don't go out just cuz you think you have to (just to waste money and be hung over) look for a good time and if you don't find one go home. (I'd gladly shoot hoops on new years if I thought anyone else would be interested).

Also it seems like chasing your ex is causing you problems...just saying

I second this, it's kinda cold some people gave you the cold shoulder on New Years

The hotel is pretty small, usually filled with business men and it's so far outside of the city center it wouldn't make a lot sense. It's great it is like that. I wouldn't want to have a stressful shift without getting more than regular salary.

I'd try option number one and if all else fails number two, the random nights out are usually the best! Have a good one anyway fella.

You could always put The Cure on and curl up with a box of wine and big wheel of cheese.

But I'd call you friends up, explain, and offer to supply some alcohol or food. Good friends will understand the chase for poontang.

Dunno if it will work for you, but sometimes I have been able to go out solo and have a great time. The big plus is to be philosophical and engage with a bunch of different people. Maybe fortune will grant you a kiss for NYE or maybe not. The important thing is to celebrate the passing of a year with ups and downs and welcome a year that will hopefully be better.

Oh, and a little bit of ganj can make the difference when it comes to being pleasantly buzzed without getting wasted.

Good luck! :rocking:  :rofl2: :meditate: :rocking:

Well, as the afternoon progressed I started feeling worse cold-wise, so I didn't really feel capable of going out. Here's what I did: I started by watching Star Wars IV and drinking two beers, ordered Chinese, watched Star Wars V with two more beers and tasty Chinese food, took a massive dump, drank two more beers while taking a long ass bubble bath and listening to all my Aerosmith albums, got out of the bath, snuggled into bed (squeaky-clean, well dined and wined,) with a hot water bottle and fell asleep while watching Return of the Jedi. I started the last movie around 9ish, so I was probably asleep by 10.30 and slept through the whole dilemma of whom to kiss at midnight.

Woke up this morning feeling much better, not having done anything I could possibly regret and the whole night didn't cost me more than 20 bucks. Happy New Year everyone! :)
I think I made the best of a pretty lousy situation :)

Is hot water bottle slang for something or was it an actual hot water bottle?

Whats your favorite star wars movie? I go back and fourth between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
