Humphries vs. Favors

Post#1 » by Infinite Llamas » Sun Jan 2, 2011 3:47 am

Hey, Celts fan here...

So I was bored tonight and caught some of the Nets/Wolves game, and I noticed that Humphries was a real bright spot on your team. I know in the past, he was known as a ballhog, but by the looks of his numbers, it appears he's consuming less percentages as a whole. Maybe in his 7th year, he finally "got it", or maybe he's just holding himself back in an effort to try and get a big contract. In any case, he seems like a quality NBA player and definitely an elite rebounder. When given 30+ minutes, he's all but a guaranteed double double.

So wouldn't it be in the Nets best interest to try and trade one of these 2 young forwards? At the evry least, I think they should commit to one and use the other one as bait for an upgrade on the wings. Humphries is an expiring deal, but he'd possibly take a "discount" to remain with the Nets if he knows they're committed to him? And Favors undoubtedly has more trade value, and there's really no guarantee taht he'll ever live up to his potential?

I guess why I'm basically asking is: Would it make more sense to keep Humphries and trade Favors for help elsewhere, or to keep them both and risk letting Humphries walk with no compensation?

I believe the answer you're looking for is Favors to Denver?

i love Humphries this year. hes hustling hes getting rebounds and even better rebounds in traffic even when the traffic is other net players. lol. hes even finishing at the rim when he gets the ball. hes been extremely impressive this year and is no longer that blackhole on offense.

i want hump to be a net for the next few years. hes the perfect guy to come off the bench and bring energy and rebounding. as long as he doesnt get overpayed i want him to stay.

Derrick Favors is probably going to be traded so i dont think hes going to be in our future.. i like him but he def has to start doing more on the court. he has to be more of a factor on both ends and actually make dunks. i would love him to stay cuz i do like to watch players blossom on a game by game basis but i dont see it happening hes just in way too many trade talks to stay.
Playoffs this year, Championship in 5 years.

Humphries needs to be traded ASAP. I love what he's brought to this team but his value is pretty much at its highest right now.

I'm also afraid of the contract Billy King will give him if the Nets have his bird rights at the end of the season...

Im going to have to agree here. Although Humphries has been an excellent piece this year I also think hes at his high point and we should get as much as we can for him. Orlando could be a willing trade partner as we all know they are looking for another big body.
