ANNOUNCEMENT: Quick update on board rules

Post#1 » by Miklo » Wed Dec 22, 2010 5:54 pm

First of all I hope everyone's holiday season is going well. I'll make this as brief as possible:

The Suns board is low key compared to a lot of other RealGM forums - so historically we don't have to give out way too many warnings/suspensions/bans. However lately with the season underway and the trade, we've posted enough public warnings and edited enough posts that we will need to be more aggressive at least for a while til things cool off.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moving to automatic on-the-record warnings for any of the following:

---Trolling/continued derailment of threads

---Posts talking trash about, or talking trash to, another poster - no matter WHO started it, or whether that poster is a "troll" or not. See below belonging to this category:
-Even saying "oh god here this troll goes again" counts.
-Images/media intended for the same reason (for example an image saying "nobody gives a crap", or GTFO) also count.
-Talking trash about any type of fan, or fan base
-Backseat modding (please report the post and do not reply in the thread, saying anything like "mods lock this" - just report.)

---Any other forum policy violations ( see http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=191&t=812773 ), the ones above are just the most common here.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, relax
This thread doesn't have to be about you :D
Just be a considerate poster, keep discussion to basketball and hear everyone out, or ignore posters/report posts instead of responding in kind. As long as that goes on, it's not like the board is gonna change or become some kind of police state. We're just going after people who are continually disrupting conversation, until the board calms down a bit. Debating is what the forum is for so please don't be afraid to express opinions just be civil. Thanks yall!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any questions, feel free to post, I'll keep this open for discussion.

I guess I haven't really been paying attention to any battles amongst fans. Maybe because I try and keep my arguments somewhat civil, but what exactly triggered this, lol?

It's mainly from the trade and stuff, we've had luckily some great new fans come in with this trade.

But we've also had some people just come in from other places and start trollin' around with their agendas. Then people here start responding and it just ends up being a lot of bickering, making every thread hard to read through 3 pages of trolling and reactions.

Like I said though I mean you'd know if this applied to you, I just posted this to address people who keep going against public warnings or post edits so they don't cry when they get a warning

Lol, yeah I've never had a problem with anyone on this board. I was just curious. Thanks.

Yeah you made a good point, I actually removed the part about having to suspend someone because it wasn't a regular around here and I wanted to make sure people don't take this as us making the rules stricter, just a reminder for those who have found themselves in non-basketball arguments etc.

I know I'm sometimes very blunt and simple and it comes across as being an a-hole, but I'll try to watch it.

Sometimes you must feel like a primary school teacher Miklo. Haha.

It's hard not to retaliate when another poster is constantly being a massive douche. Lord give us patience.

Thanks for your help with this everyone, about to take it down, but of course we'll still be looking for the same stuff since the board is growing and becoming more active. Happy new year!!

What if I feel a moral obligation to inform someone of how horrible their trade decisions are? Aren't I serving the higher need by enlightening them with taunts, name calling and hyperbole?
