It's fire retardant. Try it.

if this http://twitter.com/JerryZgoda/status/20914957549838336 is true I hope it is for the Utah pick.

hmmmm...I like this from our side since we don't give up much value.

Expiring +(UTA or MEM) Pick(If we plan on being a good team, we need to package these picks to get players already in the league) for Anthony Randolph who is still dripping with potential and is only 21 years old.

I wonder what this means though since there are reports that we are going after Mayo? Can we swing Anthony Randolph with Flynn or Brewer and give them the MEM or UTA pick(Whichever we don't move) for Mayo?

OR do we keep AR and try to get Mayo? Or do we just get AR and call it day?

This is going to be interesting from now until the trade deadline.

utah+PG for Randolph would be great!!!

memphis+PG for Randolph would still be ok, but not the rip-off we love.

I am not sold on Mayo as an answer. I think Johnson is some ballhandling away from being special.

Just because posters disagree on Randolph's value, do we have to worry about flame wars? Disagreeing is part of what makes the board interesting. There's too much "us-against-them" mindset between different team fanbases, and I would even say, some mods and regular posters.

As I've said for over a month, Telfair + UTA 1st makes sense. Neither team has use for the current player, and NYK is certainly a better PG than any of their other options. While he's not great, he won't hurt the team either, and may result in more wins for a team that is certainly making noise in the play-offs. Better yet, there's no longterm commitment, and the cap space can be used on Melo. And if we're talking about a Melo deal, tossing their fans a bone by including that pick would be helpful.

I would not give up the MEM pick, which has a decent chance of being conveyed in 2012. He would represent multiple years on a rookie deal.

If Melo signs an extension so 2011 cap space is not an issue, then the superior Ridnour is a better choice. I personally would not include any pick in that trade.

If we bring in Randolph, I'd consider including Tolliver in a deal. No doubt he's played well for us, but he'd be pretty valuable to NYK for their play-off run, and we'd want to pump his minutes into Randolph anyway. He's cheap too.

I would want more back if Tolly is included. I personally would like to keep Tolly. I think he can defend 3-4-5 and would play alongside Randolph very well. He is also a hardworking vet that would not complain about minutes. Why would we want to get rid of him?

Randolph has had some pretty good games playing at C including his career game vs. D12. Could he possibly get some backup minutes at C when Darko is hurt/foul trouble and still have Tolliver backup Love at PF? Thing is, I like Tolliver on this team & he makes the perfect backup.

I don't disagree with any of that, and I have a soft spot for the guy myself. I just question where the minutes are going to come from for Randolph. He has little value now, and that's where he's going to stay if we have to keep him on the bench all the time. It'd also be fairer to Tolliver, who's been a true professional, and shouldn't have to ride the bench behind Anthony Randolph.

I didn't mean to imply we'd give up Tolliver without compensation. At $2 mil/year, he's a tremendously cost-effective big man with a great attitude and the ability to have an impact on the floor.

Let's say we get Randolph for Telfair/One of our picks.

So our (main) lineup would be

Love
Beas
Darko
Pek
Luke
Jonny
Kosta
Wayne
Wes
AR
Tolliver
Webster
Brewer

That leaves us with

Luke/Jonny
Wes/Webster/Ellington
Beas/Webster/Brewer
Love/Tolliver/AR
Darko/Pek/AR

Does this make any sense at all as a lineup to anyone? I know our lineup is still forming but I'm just trying to get a grip on what we might look like after the deadline.

Also, I really don't want anyone carving into Pek/Darko's minutes. I really thing that Pek could be good, and Darko is good when he isn't injured.

I don't mind trading Tolly, who I think is great, simply because he will probably be worth more to us now. He only has a two year deal. While he seems like a great guy and a valuable vet, he will not stay here if there is better money somewhere else. He doesn't strike me as a guy we'll be able to keep around when we are actually relevant. If we can get value for him, lets do that. But I would never include him as an add on.

I dont really like the idea of AR taking minutes from Tolliver or Pek. I dont know, I am just not high on Randolph at all. Plus, if our goal for the season is to give the Clippers our pick this year, it makes a lot more sense to play Tolliver and Pek over Randolph.

I didn't get why the other thread was closed. Sure, the title was a little inciting but the actual discussion was alright by the end of it. Oh well.

I'm cool with Randolph for Telfair+Utah pick, as long as it's Rambis that actually wants him. If it's Kahn just trying to get cute with buying low then I'm not as keen.

Buying low is ok with me. Even more so when we lose the pick to LAC. If we can add a talented 21 yr old that we had rated really high in GSW for almost nothing...then why not?

Put him in this "college" environment with players he knows (Beasley) and a front office guy that knows and is very high on him. (Ronzone).

I guess this follows our MO, with buying misused assets and developing them. I don't see a good fit on our offense unless he can play the 5. On the bright side, if he comes here and rights the ship, a Flynn+Randolph + filler/picks would be a pretty tempting package for a stud veteran.
MilBucksBackOnTop06 wrote:I am envious of your team. Apologize to GM Kahn for me. Just an excellent securing of assets albeit in a round about way.
His method was goofy and quirky at first, wasting picks on all those PG's but in the end he seems to have gotten it done.

I would give up the Memphis pick. A player being on a rookie deal for four years in not necessarily a good thing. If the player is a rotation player that makes your team better, then sure. But if it's a player that isn't ready to contribute, like Ellington or Hayward, then that is not good. It's hard to say what kind of a player we'd get in the middle of the draft as it seems teams only bat about 50% in that area.

6'11" guys with Randolph's athleticism are too rare in this league and he is the type of player that Kahn-Rambis-Ronzone seems to think this team needs. I'm confident we'll be able to find minutes for him.

I agree on AT. Tolliver is a fine player, but he is easily replaceable. Randolph is a role of the dice, but I think everyone would agree he has a ceiling that is much higher than Tolliver's. Being a 9 win team we cannot afford to be satisifed with nice role players at the expense of passing on players with Randolph's kind of upside.

I'm kind of happy the last thread got locked, the Knicks/Wolves forum war was sooooooo 2009.

At some point though you need role players like Tolliver. You can't be swinging for the fences with all 15 roster spots and there's things guys like Tolliver provide that guys like Randolph, and even guys like Love and Beasley, don't. This team needs a Tolliver more then it needs a Randolph, even if his ceiling is significantly higher.

As for that Memphis pick, unless it's going for a starter like Mayo I wouldn't be including it until at least the deadline. By then everyone should have a clearer idea of how a lockout will potentially impact the draft. If this draft looks weak then, especially considering this team is definitely losing it's own pick, it could be good to have a pick in that 2012 draft.

I agree with your reasoning, but if we can get AR for Telfair and the Utah pick, I think we need to take it and let things works themselves out. Tolliver is not going to blink an eye at the added competition.

We need speed and athleticism, and if it comes at 6'11", then gotta think the risk is low enough to earn a look.

I would like to see Tolliver, Darko, and AR on the court at the same time. Give me flashes of KG, Joe Smith, and L-Woods clogging the lane.
