wallace injured in practice (sunday)

Wallace crashed to the floor while driving to the basket. He laid there in what appeared to be severe pain for 10 or more minutes, unable to put any weight on his left leg. Finally, he was carried off the court by teammates Stephen Jackson and Nazr Mohammed.

Tricky Ricky all over this one!

Wallace crashed to the floor after receiving a pass from D.J. Augustin and driving to the rim.

Should have known who's fault this would be.

Typical.

Expletives. I think we had a shot against Miami if DJ could perform like he did. Jax doesn't seem to respond to defense much, so their defensive output would be mitigated. We have two of the better wing defenders in Jax and Wallace, and Bosh is soft enough that frikkin Diaw could push him around. Now we have to pick our poison, Bron or wade, Henderson or Brown/McGuire...

Miami is playing championship level defense right now, we really have no shot. Also, Miami let up in the first half against the Warriors, so you know Spolestra is going to have them spitting fire against us right from the opening tip. With the way their playing defense now, we could be down 30 at the end of the first quarter. The only way we have a slight chance is they get into foul trouble early on and we shoot lights out. GS shot lights out in the first half and you saw how that ended up.

We did alright against them last time. Our matchups are better than theirs. Wade can guard Ellis a lot better than he can guard Jackson. Curry did nothing all game, so if DJ is on we win there. Wallace (would have been) a major upgrade defensively on LeBron. And Boris could have defended Bosh better than Lee did. But without Wallace we look like crap to them.

Miami is on a whole other level defensively since the last time we played them. They play in your face defense, this isn't the garbage DJ faced the past 3 games. It's very intimidating and when they are on it's scary. And then on offense they attack you and move great without the ball. How is our weak ass defense going to contend with that?? If I'm Miami I would have Wade guard DJ as he's bringing the ball up court, hound him and make him pass the ball to Jack, then I'd slink back into a zone and force us into long shots. We'll brick most of the shots, Miami will grab the rebounds and loose balls because they'll be flying all over the court and Lebron and Wade will come down and slam it on Stephen Jacksons head.

Thats what I see happening on Monday.

I didn't say we had a shot. I said we would if Wallace was in. Last season we were about 400% better at home court than away. This season it seems like everyone hated playing basketball under Larry, so I'm thinking that HCA might creep back up on us now that the play is energetic and emotional. That's the kind of stuff that works in your advantage on the home court.

And in regard to us taking jumpshots, we've been shooting well from range this year. Wade guarding DJ would be a mistake, as our team is good at creating with players other than the PG. I just said that I see our defensive strengths lining up with their offensive strengths, not nearly to the point of equalization of course, but to the point where it's at least POSSIBLE for us to win a game.

Tricky Ricky asking the question we have all asked ourselves a zillion times over the past 6 years:

How many collisions left for Crash?

Sucks that Crash got hurt because now we can't trade him at the moment, but at least we will get to see Henderson play a lot more and hopefully develop into a solid player.
