I would take the chance if he came here for free. But obviously that won't happen.

He's not right for this team. Kahn made a wise choice.

Ok, I don't think anyone is denying that. The McCants jab was a bit of a joke, but Cousins also seems to have caused more headaches in his short career already, than McCants did.
He reminds me more of 'Sheed than McCants.
I hope he pulls it together. Rasheed did - it just took, what, 5-6 years?

Re: Would you take a chance on Cousins?
DMC needs his Minnesota, so to speak. I don't think Beas is an apt comparison as Beas had a couple of years of (apparent) misery and was plopped into a situation that put added pressure on him. It's clear that while Beas wanted to be able to wield a leadership role DMC needs veterans on and off the court. I don't think a winning team is necessary the answer either as he needs to have a large, stable role on the team.
Once again we see the importance of environment on the development of a player's career.

I'd still take a chance on Cousins if it were a low cost acquisition, but I certainly like him a lot less than I did 6 months or so ago.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

Meh. Demolished the Suns' frontline (not like it's that hard to do), while dropping 6 assists. I guess he's not being shopped anymore [/sarcasm].
I know that DeMarcus doesn't fit here after Darko's signing, but it's a great "what-if" scenario, cause he's already a better (and more willing!) passer than Darko, he sees the floor better and has a nice jumper.

He's a better passer? I don't know about that.

Maybe the best answer to the question Shrink posed is: not yet. Wait till he bottoms out and see a need to change his behavior. Why risk taking other down with him.

Its all kind of moot anyway. Teams almost never trade a Top 5 pick in the middle of his rookie season.
Still, while its completely unrealistic, it makes for an interesting discussion among internet GM's!

Darko is a terrible passer out of the low post, especially when he's doubled. He can't read defenses at all. Most of his assists are bounces to open cutters from the high post, that's the only kind of pass he does well. When he has to actually think and make a play, it usually ends in a turnover, that's why he turned out to be some sort of a "blackhole" lately. Cousins on the other hand is a natural passer out of the post and can read a double-team. If not for a Kings' lack of long-range shooters, that would be a serious threat to Kings opponents.

Well you didn't specify low post, Darko has an overall higher assist percentage.

I dont think he is a terrible passer. I just think he is an unwilling passer at times, and sometimes, when he does pass it out of the low post, he is trying to make the spectacular play - and we all know that usually ends up as a TO.
He just needs to do more of what he did in the nets game. He got double or triple teamed and then kicked it out to Ridnour for the WIDE open 3

Re: Would you take a chance on Cousins?
Darko is an above average passer for a bigman, but he's not a playmaker by any means. He can execute simple passes in a flow of the offense, find open cutters and provide an occasional kick-out (if the defense is dumb enough to double from the strongside), but you can't run an offense through him and expect good results, not like with Monroe (high post) or Cousins (low post), that's what I meant.

Re: Would you take a chance on Cousins?
Cousins is much more raw right now. He might be a better passer eventually, but right now the nod goes to Darko. Cousins has more turnovers, less assists, and as Worm stated, a lower assist percentage. I don't think you can expect good results running an offense through any of those guys right now. I'll take Darko's defense over either player's since that's what our team needs first and foremost.

They run an offense through him in the 4th quarter against the Suns last night and went into 19-2 run. Seem like a good result to me.

The suns are terrible though. They have zero interior D. If they can do that consistently, or at least a different team, then I'd be impressed

Me too. But that's one game against the Suns. Before that night he had 20 some odd games in a row where he wasn't so effective. I think we can probably find a game where running the offense through Darko (or even Big Al ) had the same or a similar result.
How about this: what if we played the Kings. Would you rather run the offense through Cousins with Darko guarding him or Darko with Cousins guarding him?

Darko with Cousins guarding him without question.

Re: Would you take a chance on Cousins?
Suns aren't known for their interior D, that's true, but Gortat is an okay defender with legit size. And of course Kings' offense isn't going to always click like it did last night too, but I feel that it's not Cousins' problem: first of all, they don't have the personel to run an inside-out offense properly, they have only two guys that can shoot in Cassipi and Garcia. Second, they have Tyreke, who obviously needs the ball in his hands too. Of course Cousins will have some growing pains of his own, adjusting to the pro game, but the skill is there. Heck, Calipari pretty much run his offense through Cousins in Kentucky, when he was on the floor, despite having the most talented college PG on the roster.

Cousins didn't have to pass in college though.
