Marvin and Blake Griffin

Post#1 » by Harry10 » Mon Jan 3, 2011 3:40 am

Marvin has a taller standing reach and higher vertical than Blake Griffin and Michael Beasley but is lighter than both those guys.

i don't know why Marvin can't produce, and get blocked constantly.

I know Marvin has a good work ethic, and works on his jump shot in the off season, but i think he should do what Josh and Dwight do in the offseason and try to add some mass so that he is not so weak when he does into the paint.

The vertical and sprint times at the combine are useless. Griffin jumps way higher than Marvin and the majority of the other players who recorded a 35 inch vertical at the combine(Kevin Love for example).

Griffin can reach 11'8 and Marvin can reach 11'11

but Marvin comes in alot lighter than Love, Griffin, Beasely, and Carmelo

Marvin was no contact player even at UNC when usually he had the size advantage. He also tended to telegraph his moves and have no double clutch or fake going. Improved on that stuff a little but still likes the midrange J more than the bump and grind game.

Not trying to troll you guys in your home base bro.. but Blake and trainer Jason Powell said Blake's max vert right now is 40+. I enjoy watching the Hawks as well and know damn well Marvin jumps nowhere near as high. Infact even Dwight and Amare don't jump as high. Blake's got 2-3 inches vert on every other big in the league at least.

Like Josh Smith said... Blake basically came out of surgery like a cyborg because he's stronger, faster and jumps higher than ever. Even just by watching highlights from preseason last year to this seasons play.. you can see Blake has way more hops on his dunks.

I seem to remember a video about Blake going through psychotic fitness rituals while Marvin walks like a duck. That's all I have to say on the subject.

I'm not convinced that Marvin has done anything different in the offseason than when he came in the league. His stats tell a story of inconsistency and injury.

Marvin made one improvement over the years: his 3 point shot. Other than that, I see nothing that says he is dedicated to his craft.

Nice gig if you can get it.....

i don't think Marvin is going to turn into Granger, Durant or Carmelo anymore, so i think the best thing he can do in the off season is try to do what Josh and TMac did and try to add 15lbs of muscle.

remember how skinny Josh and Dwight were coming out of HS and how effective they became when they bulked up.

I think the 12 pounds that Marvin added from college aided in killing part of his athleticism, you only see it in spurts now. I think he'd be better served dropping to 230 rather than bulking up to 255.
