Sundiata waived .... Trade coming?

Post#1 » by Krapinsky » Tue Jan 4, 2011 5:23 pm

RT @Twolves_PR #Twolves waived guard Sundiata Gaines this morning. The roster now stands at 14 players.

Not to necessarily make this a Randolph thread, but for example, a potential Randolph-Telfair trade would likely include a second player coming from NY. Waiving Gaines makes room.

I anticipate another PG coming in if Flynn or Telfair is shipped out. Or at least one who can man the position well enough to be the 3rd backup.

Is there any logical reason, other than a trade, to cut him? Maybe something fiscal?

One logical reason would be you don't need 4 point guards.

That was my first thought actually. With Flynn back in the rotation, there is really no point in keeping Gaines.

This could be a sign that Ridnour, Flynn and Telfair will remain for the rest of the season, and if there is a trade, it will include other players/assets.

Agreed. He was only going to be around until Flynn was healthy. plus 15 players is the MAX you can carry. I wouldn't mind seeing some changes, but I don't think I am going to bother speculating until it happens.

Non-guaranteed deals become guaranteed on the 10th, and the Wolves didn’t want to pay him.

Both of you take your logic and get out of here. There's no room for rational thinking in this place.

If recent history is any indication, it will be the media and fans of every other team.

Zing!

Too soon?

Sorry, what was your favorite Sundiata moment? Could this be it?

My favorite Sundiata moment was when he handed out one of those signed mini basketballs to one of the fans on the court, and the guy looked at it like "Gee, thanks buddy."

Is it just me, or has Gaines looked better than Flynn this year?

With this move, I think its a bigger indication that one of Flynn/Ridnour/Telfair isnt getting traded this year. I dont think we'd put ourselves in a situation where we would have 2 pgs on our team.

Or we're trading for Mayo and they feel he can serve as a third point guard?

Or they feel Ellington can serve as a third point guard?

Either way it can't be any worse than we already are.
