NBAGM Midseason

Post#1 » by moss_is_1 » Tue Jan 4, 2011 10:17 pm

Would anyone be up in having a GM draft, where you take control of a team, draft 15 players(1 coach possibly) and then we would vote on who has the best team? I'll gauge some interest here and see if we could get this to work to spark some interest around here.

If we had a draft it would be something were whoever gets the 1st pick would get the last in the 2nd, then the last in the 3rd as well just to make it more fair since they would get a LeBron type player compared to an Iguoadala or something..lol

I think this would be more interesting if you imposed a salary cap.

I was also going to do that, something like a hard cap of 65? for the draft, and then you can go over that once you sign free agents, but can only go to around 80~.
So that could have people shy away from taking someone like Rashard Lewis, Gilbert Arenas...just because they have huge deals and they may not be drafted because you have to be careful with the money in the draft. Then after the draft you can bid on whoever isn't drafted against the other teams.

We can decide more rules once more people are involved and whatever everyone thinks would be faired.

If you sign me up, you should choose which team you want to be. Then I'll figure out a way to randomize the draft order.

Does it have to be a team in the West or any?

I would choose the Washington Wizards. If we've gotta choose West teams then sign me up for the Denver Nuggets.

I'd like to do all teams, if possible let's just get as many people as possible for now.

How do you plan on doing the draft? At a preset time?

I'm in. I'll be a black sheep and pick the Lakers.

I hope this turns out better than the draft we had going with the Nets board.

For the draft I was wanting to do it right here, then after the 1st couple rounds put in timeslots to have it move faster after the most important picks.
