Where would you draft Kevin Love in fantasy draft?

Post#1 » by jballer_13 » Sun Dec 19, 2010 5:13 am

If you redid your fantasy draft right now, where would you draft Kevin Love? Are his overall #'s good enough for a first round pick? a top 3 pick? the #1 pick?

Before tonight's game:

20.3 PPG
15.6 RPG
2.3 APG
0.5 SPG
0.4 BPG
2.2 TOPG
45% FG
40% 3P
88% FT
27.67 EFF, 24 PER.

His stat-line tonight:

43 Points
14-23 FG
5-5 3FG
10-12 FT
17 Rebounds
3 Assists
2 TO

I played fantasy for the past two years but quit this year. But I'd say early 2nd round pick, if not late first rounder.

has him at #12 right now. I would pick him before that though. It is his FG% that is keeping him from being higher than 12th

Early 2nd. Doesn't contribute in steals/blocks/assists/FG%. I actually just traded him straightup for Rose in one of my leagues.

Depends on the rules of your league. I'm in a Head to Head where you get 10 extra points for a double-double and 20 for a triple-dub. Needless to say, Love is a monster and would hands down be the #1 pick. I picked him up in the second round (I had the 7th overall pick in a snake draft) and still remember the cat calls from the other 11 guys at that draft table. I grabbed Blake in the 3rd round and they thought I was insane. Amare was my #1 pick. Needless to say, my team has been crushing people by 200-400 points weekly (and I have a good feeling I can run the table in the league - which has never been done in the 15 years of the league's existence). We start 10 players, sitting four - hence the high scores.

After week 1, I took a chance and traded Brandon Jennings and Antawn Jamison for John Wall and Tony Parker (has paid massive dividends). Granted Wall has been hurt recently, but that trade worked great because I had Jennings for his triple double when the season opened (used him as god trade bait), and Wall has since averaged about 38 fantasy points a night when he has played.

Just yesterday, I pulled the trigger on trading Amare for Chris Paul and Rashard Lewis. Everything points to 'Melo heading to NY prior to the trade deadline, pushing Amare's stat lines down. Melo's not going to Jersey with the Knicks trumping the deal. Furthermore, even Amare commented how the defenses are collapsing on him like he's never seen before (meaning a downfall in production). I would be shocked if Sweet Lew doesn't revert somewhat back to his Supersonic days, averaging about 30 fantasy points a night (clearly more than the 22-24 points I get a night from my lowest starter depending on their weekly game schedule - typically a rotation of Biedrins, Batum, or Dunleavy). I posted our divisions below (not that anyone really cares... but the season has been quite glorious).

Depends on the scoring system. I'm in a league where it scores by total fantasy points.
1 point for a point
2 for a rebound or assist
4 for a block or steal
0.5 for a FT made (in addition to the 1 point for scoring a point)
1 for each 3 made (in addition to the 3 points)
-1 for a TO
7 for a double double
13 or something like that for a triple double

Kevin Love right now is the no. 2 player in the league at 67.6 fantasy points per game, and I believe that was before tonight's 76.5 fantasy point production. I would consider taking him #1 overall in that league since he is continually closing the distance with Dwight Howard (who is currently #1) and may overtake him in the next week or two.

In a standard roto league, I'd take him late 1st round.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

I'm playing a keeper league and you get to keep 3 guys and he'll be a def for one of them.

I was super keen on him and Westbrook this year and I got Westbrook in the 40s and Love in the 50s, absolute steals!

Top 5 in my opinion, that is if he keeps up these numbers for the entire season

He doesn't get you any steals or blocks on a consistent basis which is his downfall. However you can't neglect his dominance on the boards, oddity in being able to hit the 3 for a big man, and his ft%s. He isn't the most well rounded fantasy player but he excels in everything he focuses on. I would still take Chris Paul, Durant, Deron Williams, Pau Gasol, Amar'e, Lebron, Wade, Nowitzki and Stephen Curry. After that set of players are gone, i think it may be fair to consider to draft Love
