so when you watch Blake you see a potential 50 goal scorer? Sorry but I dont , since the end of the lockout these are the only players who have hit the 50 mark (Heatleyx2,Jagr,Ovechkin, Lecavalier, Kovalchuk and Cheecho). Blake doesnt have the skill nor raw scoring ability of any of those players.
Maybe if Sundin was Joe Thornton(currently the best playmaking forward in the league) Blake would have a shot at 50, but its not going to happen. If it happens I will agree to never post on this board again, the Mod can ban my IP adress all together and I will no longer watch hockey again in my life.

I'd say he's got a shot. He's 34, not 38. He DID score 40 last year. What, he has to get 40 every year or he couldn't score fifty? Baloney. It's hard to get fifty. He might just get forty again. What a drag that would be

And, for all of Thornton's power (and youth), Sundin might be a better player (although more injury prone)in terms of pure skill.

Yep 40 in a contract year where he was the main gun on his team and his teammates looked to him alot more then hes going to be looked to on the Leafs team. Sure he could get 40 again, but there is a big difference between 40 and 50.
Theres no way Sundin at this point is anywhere close to as dominant as a player as Thornton is.

Someone who is getting NO pub and is playing very well is Johnny Mitchell. Him, Salmalienen (on the same line), and Steen were the team's best players against the Coyotes in Toronto, and him, Gamache (same line), and Strallman were the team's best players against the Bruins.
He's big, strong, can handle and protect the puck VERY well, and has soft hands for the pass. He scored a goal in todays game and even though the press haven't caught on, Maurice has by awarding him 2nd shot at Thomas in the Shoot out.
They was Leafs TV broadcasters were talking about him, it seems that he might not be ready to make the team right away. They said that his work ethic in the weight room was a question mark for him up until now when one of the Marlie assistant coaches really took him under his wing. Right now he's looking like he can be a star if he continues to get stronger and more physical because we can already see he has the talent.
Anyways look out for this kid

I don't understand why the clear number 2 goalie is playing against their number one in the most important game of the pre-season...?
Is it gamemanship (not reveal our number 1 too soon)? Is it a chance for Raycroft to redeem himself?
I guess if you look at it in the glass is half-empty way, we got a point but still.

It's the pre-season, no game is important. The pre-season is to determine who makes the team (usually the 4th line players) and as a source as getting back into game shape.

Even in the fifth game which Maurice mentioned would be where the games would start to mean something?

He doesn't mean standings wise, he just means that by the fifth game, the team has developed a chemistry with one another, Maurice could also have some lines set and only have a handful of others competing for roster spots. I assume around the fifth game is when the roster will be shaved down.
All the palyers should now almost be ready for the regular season and thus the games start to show what they might play like.
I'm just not a big fan of the OT last night. I ahve no clue why 2 TOR PK'ers were chasing Spezza. If I were the Leafs, I'd just cover the other 3, and if Spezza got close, then that's whenI'd switch up the defence. He took two rounds trips and wasn't even touched....sad

Since Emery is out genius
Ya Emery is no longer out and your upset because Maurice played our back in raycroft and Ottawa played there backup in Gerber(who your now calling the #1 because Emery missed a handfull of meaningless preseason games?). The reason he played Raycroft was because he said prior to the start of the preseason games both Raycroft and Toskala would each get three starts and Raycroft 2nd start just happened to come against Ottawa and Toskala's will come against Buffalo. He wants to have Toskala play the last game against Det, so im sure he didnt want to switch the rotation.
You really take this preason stuff too seriously.
