Jamie Campbell is bored because baseball's done, so he's starting rumors.

Why is everybody getting on Goldie Lock's case ? the title of the thread has rumor (BTW you spelled rumor wrong Ozz) in it.
You never know it might have legs. Although Sportsnet is not my go to source for basketball related info.

I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

Re: Raptors/Hawks Deal Going Down? (Rumour)
If somebody has legit sources they will eventually be proven right in some way eventually. If their source only seems to break things that either aren't eventually proven true or don't eventually hint at being close from other sources... as a community... we come to learn that and lower our expectations with each passing rumor. If they then hit on one the expectations go back up. There are a lot of things that can happen between an initial conversation between teams and the completion of a deal and teams are always talking. These kinds of rumors are a buyer/reader beware situation and the community sort of adjusts to different sources.
The 76ers board has a solid insider who has broken some stories. The Bulls board does too. That said, even those guys share info that never sees the light of day. There's always a lot of talk between teams and it sounds like this Calderon/Bibby thing was probably just at the hypothetical stage but so long as it's coming from a Mod (who's earned the respect of other Mods by displaying a certain amount of quality and integrity in their posting over an extended period of time) than they're usually given the benefit of doubt.
New posters are always asked to provide additional information because it's simply too easy for anybody to post false rumors deliberately. If you're not willing to try and gain more exposure/E-cred by providing that info to a Mod then you won't have a forum for your rumor and it can stay with you. No matter what happens with this particular rumor it's obvious to me that Ozzy didn't do this deliberately and that more than likely... both teams were just talking hypothetical. Whether that means you take his next rumor with a grain of salt is up to you or not. With rumors it's always buyer/reader beware because of the amount of things that can happen before the I's are dotted and the T's are crossed.
All we can do as Mods is try to help sort through the ones that could have some truth to them from the ones that are probably made-up just for fun or made-up for no other purpose than to get attention and then the rest is up to you and how much you want to invest into that rumor.
Few are ever seen all the way through to completion (even from the 76ers/Bulls sources mentioned above) but some are. Keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed or upset.

il7mago wrote:No it's great we have threads like this. You will always have the odd troll to say "Jose & Evans for Bibby & Horford", but I think you have to trust readers' rational thinking. A lot of readers roll their eyes on things like this but they don't go out of their way to tell people they're morons, cause that usually doesn't add much. I trust people are intelligent enough to separate plausible scenarios from pure fantasy.
I don't think it's trolling to fantasize about rip-off trades in our favour. Are you a fake Raptors fan?
EDIT: After reading the previous pages, it's pretty dumb if they're actually serious about those trades. Still not trolling though, just stupid.

Truly I love the fact that you posted this un-sourced rumour because clearly it added tons to the board! I just hope in the future when one of our contributors does the same its given the same treatment and at least has a day of shelf life.
two examples from last season:
1. a poster posted some rumour about Jay Triano. we PMed him and asked for a source. the poster was polite enough to privately give his source, thus legitimizing his claim/rumour. Mods kept his source silent and it resulted in intelligent ball discussion
2. a poster posted that he banged Yolanda Hollinger. he refused to tell us more. so we locked his thread.

not sure what has you so down....
if you want to claim you have legitimate sources and rumours, you have to somehow back it up. otherwise we'll have some doughhead posting their thoughts as rumours, which is what occasionally happens.
there are some posters on here with legit rumours/sources. once they're established as legit, they can post. until then, you may say you're legit but unless at least 1 moderator knows differently, then we'll consider any rumours posted to be made up.

He didn't want to embarrass her any further and you slam him? G-Damn Real-GM police state with El Presidente Yogi....
j/k this thread got too serious too fast! Every rumour needs to be considered a non-runner until someone connected with either team says something. Just as long as one of those teams is not the Bobcats... then I would wait until the player is actually on the court wearing a Raptors jersey before believing the deal is going down.

I can't see why ATL does this. Lateral move for us, and we take on more salary? I'll pass.

If the dreaded lockout does happen, Bibby becomes an expiring. Also Peja is expiring so we would have a good amount of cap space, also with reggie.

Hawaiian pizza is good.

I'm a Hawks fan, so there's little reason for us to do this.

it opens up a chunk of capspace for the team a year earlier than they would currently have. it also breaks down a difficult to move contract into smaller pieces that are infinitely easier to move down the road.
All it adds this season is about 1 million in salary for Toronto, and gives Atlanta a little more breathing room under the Luxury Tax Threshold
