Question, did we not used to have a technology thread on this board? On occasion, I've wanted to post on geeky stuff like cool iPhone aps, gadgets etc, but didn't want to spam the board....and didn't think that this thread was the right place either.

The Movie Thread is a branch-off of the Random Thoughts thread and it survived and is supported.
IIRC there was once a Tech thread. I suppose I could dump my random posts about iPhone aps etc into this thread.

I think if it can handle the sporatic downpours of dexter comments it can also sustain app talk. I like using the free text apps to create a random phone number to send my friends prank texts pretending to be overly aggressive jilted lovers

Wizards note: The time of Washington's home game against Phoenix on Jan. 21 has been changed to 7 p.m. The game was originally scheduled as an ESPN telecast at 8 p.m., but will now be broadcast by Comcast SportsNet.
We just got uninvited to the dance, what a diss.

Re: Official Not So Random Thoughts Thread Version 2.2
Tomorrow I will put the finishing touches on my quite average Master's thesis. After I deleted 8 useless pages I wrote a long time ago, it came in at 20,000 words. Thank. God. That's. Done.
I know many of you have been thinking, Will, how come you've recently managed to post intermitently for 14 hours a day every day, whereas in the past you never did anything like that? Well, you have your answer: a lot of procrastination.
Now I will continue getting paid to "study" (don't worry, it's another country's government picking up the tab, not ours) until the end of March. Hopefully the U.S. government will not insitute a hiring freeze and I'll have a job then or soon after. Otherwise I'm looking at ways to go back to school...culinary school that is. I've had enough papers.

That's actually one of my desires as well, but the problem I have is that I don't want the hours that come with a career in that field. If I could work 9-5 as a chef in a restaurant, I'd be all over that. But that's not how it works. It's still in the back of mind, though.

Re: Official Not So Random Thoughts Thread Version 2.2
Yeah, that is the **** part. The hours get even worse if you try to run your own place, which presumably would be the goal.
An advantage that would be important to me, however, would be the ability to quickly change jobs/work in different locations. If I stay with my current GF in Japan, there's not many opportunities outside of speaking English for people without specific job skills. Or is she's transferred to China or I end up there anyway, it would give me a usable skill.
The main thing though is that I love cutting and burning things--in productive ways.

Me too.
If I had a re-do, I'd love to have been a chef.

Re: Official Not So Random Thoughts Thread Version 2.2
y'all may come into the Phone Booth via a different route but the
one I take from northeast of VC has me walking right by a new
building with empty space on the ground floor that the owners
are looking to lease to a restaurant. It seems pretty obvious to
me the location has potential but guessing the rent would be
sky-high. Still wonder what it would take to be a partial investor.

Well now that the queen has long left the Cavaliers i don't really hate them as much anymore. And it definitely helps their image if the reports are true about them offering the "Homeless man with a golden Voice" a job and a house.

^ good for them
that's the best story I've heard since yesterday when my daughter
was able to tell me that the wallet she lost a little over a week
ago at some point when we were going to a Wiz game, was actually
returned to her, complete with the enclosed cash.

That actually may give us some hope to win it. Typically the Wiz get blown out of the water everytime they are on national tv

Re: Official Not So Random Thoughts Thread Version 2.2
.
I'm a slacker alert.
The Wizards just held a contest on Twitter for free tix to tomorrow night's game vs the Nets. It was about the roster during the championship season and the season we lost in the finals.
I sure as heck didn't know the answer.
So as soon as the contest started, I just kept searching @WashWizards on Twitter to look at answers. As soon as I saw Rafael's (of this board) answer, I copied it and submitted it as mine.
Bottom line. I'm going to the game tomorrow.
P.S. Within the next two weeks, I'm going to try and get a number of folks to a game. I know I've commited to get together with daSwami and Pollinator. Anyone else interested?

LOL! I have to follow you on Twitter. Yeah, for a moment there I thought I didn't win, but I did. A lot of people must have missed on the question.

Lots of ppl were incorrectly guessing the Pearl.
You got your answer in early, actually. To make it seem that I wasn't totally copying your answer, I said merely "Charles Johnson", leaving out "Charlie".
I wonder how good or bad the seats are?

I won the contest for the Pacers game last week or two weeks back, whenever that was. It's in the 400s...

Got a chance to watch the Ted Williams interview on Today this morning. I have to admit I was touched. If anyone has minute to watch it on MSNBC I'd advise to do so.
