Trade Value of Brook Lopez?

Post#1 » by CableKC » Mon Jan 3, 2011 8:20 pm

Should I put him on the Trading Block?

I'm thinking of putting him up on my Trading Block to see what I can get....but he's been disappointing so far ( given his lack of Rebounding and sub-par shotblocking ) and I'm wondering whether any of you think that his #s will improve as we progress through the season.

My initial guess is that he won't be as Humpheries doesn't appear to be going anywhere and Favors/Murphy won't be impacting his #s in anyway.

I punted him three weeks into the season for Bogut, got major flame for it at the time.. I would still make that trade 10/10 if given the chance again.

I know it's tough, but I would wait on him a few more weeks. He is one of the few big men who can get a solid # of pts and boards and shoots a great ft% for a center.

Yes he scores points, but he shoots at a terrible percentage for a center. 45% from the field should be around the average for a guard, and that is an average-slightly above average from them. It is a shame when your center doesn't get 50% from the field. Granted, part of it is attributed to the fact that he isn't a conventional center as he likes to shoot floaters and what not, but it is still a bad percentage for a center. He also turns the ball over at a decent clip and he does not contribute solidly on the glass. 6 boards for a center with the minutes he plays is a disgrace and puts him on par w/ Andrea Bargnani. I do not see him figuring it out and putting it together his season. I would see if you can sell him to prospective trade partners on his name recognition and acquire a below the radar type of guy. With his name recognition, you could get someone like say, Serge Ibaka who has been contributing solidly in most aspects that a center should and you may also be able to net a top 50 player. That would be my course of action

Actually, he's averaging about 6 RPG this season....which REALLY sucks for a Center. That is the reason why I put him up on the Trading Block. Because of him....I had to pick up the Birdman, Gortat, Hibbert, Ibaka and Boozer to shore up my rebounding. I'm hoping that I can trade him for a PG or SG.

This is pretty interesting to me, because I drafted Bogut too high and felt that what I should have done was drafted Brook, and then traded him for Bogut plus something else right after the draft.

And now, how does that make you feel?

The amount of flak I got at the time made me almost reconsider, in the end I still like the move.
If it had been a keeper league, perhaps I would not have done it. One and done year sign me up.

If Carmelo is traded to NJ things could really shake up there, I've been thinking I should trade him too but who knows what impact Carmelo could have.

I swapped him for david lee emphasizing that lee was mostly just better at rebounds where lopez brings points % and blocks.
