Not gonna have jrich/Nash chemistry with Vince this early. I'm sure if we keep VC he'll be running that play close to as good as jrich did. That said, Jrich is a god off the ball.

JRich has always been a great catch and shoot guy while VC has always been the better natural ISO player. That's why it's just instincts for jRich to come off back screens hard etc and get himself free, while VC has always taken his time to get to his spots to catch the ball and go into the ISO. When you've been an ISO player for so long, it's hard to learn to run hard on sets that require you to get yourself wide open. With ISO players, the only time they do get themselves open for a catch and shoot is when a play is specifically designed to draw attention away from them while they camp on the weak side rather than with catch and shoot guys where they are normally actively in the set on the strong side.

I can see it improving over time but the set will never run as well as it did with JRich as VC isn't as quick on his feet as JRich.

^That is true, him being used to isos. With that said, Gentry needs to be talking to Vince about how he wants him to cut harder etc. A good coach would do that anyway. This kind of thing can be fixed imo.

Carter slacking on plays and not hustling through screens? Wow that's a shocker...

If you guys recall it took JRich some time to catch on as well, and it wasn't until last year he really started excelling at popping off those screens. Carter can do it, though he definitely looks slower out there. He runs wobbly out there like I do...for me its from lack of cartilage in the knees after so many years of ball...for him its probably from falling from 12 feet every time he jumps.

You guys are funny.First time they run that play was that very same laker game. But hey what do i know right? That play will never work for Vince carter, because Sebastian Pruiti thinks so.The guy, that distorts anything to make a point.

Vince has a lot faults,he can drive anybody mad and can be mentally weak at times.
But he is also the recipient of completely unwarranted criticism that, is actually blind hate, just because the author behind the drivel, doesn't like him.

the VC bashing is getting out of control. It took Jrich and Nash almost a full season to gel together.

+1

Let me be clear, J-Rich is a way better catch and shoot type of guy than VC will ever be. In Vince's whole career, he's always been an iso and pnr type of guy.

What do you think went wrong with Orlando?! He was resorted to just be a catch and shoot player. Vince's legs won't be able to be slashing so easily and acting like Rip or Ray Allen, coming off screens and running around the court.

Vince has only played within this system for 4 games and I think we need a little more time for evaluation.

Nice observation. The play was sloppy from both Carter and Frye though (not just Carter) and seemed to suffer from congestion in general - every PHX players was on one quarter of the court that the same time.

I like that set though, I think Carter can run it. Not worried about it.

We have bigger problems.

Also I should point out the obvious, that you are comparing the defense of Washington (HORRIBLE) and the Blazers (Better but not stellar), to the defense of the world champion Lakers. I can also play you a video of Bill Kline dunking on someone, It wont be a good defender!!!

Lol that play was doomed as soon as Frye failed to make any contact.

Why that play is being run is beyond me. Carter flat out sucks using off ball screens. He's a different player than J-Rich, you can't do things the same way and expect the same results.
