Nash/Suns not interested in a trade
The Suns have been a pendulum, swinging but not getting anywhere.
Suns star Steve Nash is apparently going nowhere either. For every backward sway to the season, many think it is a matter of time before Nash is traded, but any such rumors seem to be based in speculation.
The idea of trading Nash will keep popping up as long as the Suns linger outside the playoff picture with a star who turns 37 before the Feb. 24 trade deadline. President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby's repeated response is that Nash is "the sun, the moon and the stars" of the franchise to make a point that Nash is here for the season without saying it unequivocally.
"He (Babby) told me a month ago when it first sprung up that he had no plans to move me," Nash said.
Nash signed an extension in 2009 that runs through next season. He shows no interest in asking for a trade.
"I signed up for this," Nash said. "I'm committed to trying to build a team here. Obviously, last year was a phenomenal year. Tied 2-2 (in the conference finals), I thought we could win a championship. I genuinely believed we could and would win it. It's tough to be in this position six months later. I'm still committed to it. I love the guys. I think we've got potential but we've had so much change and haven't been able to put it together. If we want to point fingers, we've got to point some at ourselves and say, 'We haven't put it together.'
"I'm still happy. I just want to try to win games for these fans and our team because that's the most frustrating thing."

Re: Nash/Suns not interested in a trade
Reading this through the lines, I could be wrong but, it sounds like he's going to play out his contract here than go to another team in 2012.
Sure it's an extra 1 1/2 years of watching a great point guard play but it will probably be less with a lockout and if he goes to another team they will end up getting nothing for him rather than something...yay?

Re: Nash/Suns not interested in a trade
Why is it that some of you Suns "fans" continually go out of your way to "read between the lines" to find negativity in everything about the Suns and Suns players. Nash is telling you himself, he is here to stay, he re-signed here because he wants to be here and, "I'm committed to trying to build a team here. Obviously, last year was a phenomenal year. Tied 2-2 (in the conference finals), I thought we could win a championship. I genuinely believed we could and would win it. It's tough to be in this position six months later. But no, most of you posters know better than the man himself......

Like I said in another thread, I think one is brewing that will include Jchill, there is no other reason I can think of for him being a healthy scratch the last few games, they don't want to risk him re-injuring the finger.......

No he didnt. Did he sign a contract knowing Stat would be traded away along with half the team? I think not.

Re: Nash/Suns not interested in a trade
And i will continue posting Nash trades, as i am a Suns fan, not just a Nash fan. Do i think trading Nash this season is what will help the Suns the most in the long run? Yes i do. Therefore i will always look at ways of improving this teams chances at having a future. Getting some young talent and draft picks for Nash is better than getting nothing when he retires.

Well I think he would had brought that up if that was the case. I also think Nash knew Amare was a great risk to leave due to his salary demands.

Blah blah blah. Its lip service. All pro athletes (the good ones) do it. Did you expect him to come out talking sh*t? Was he supposed to say "I signed a contract expecting Stat and the rest of the SSOL crew to be here, but the FO screwed me by shipping away the entire team" ?
Nash is a great person. He is saying just what he should. Kind of like Melo with Denver. He wants to go to the Knicks. Everyone knows it. But he has the decency to say that he hasnt turned down any team's offer, so that Denver still has some trade power. That way other teams can still make offers and Denver can tell NY to step their offer up. If Melo was just straight up with what he wants, NY would pull their current offer and just send Curry/Randolph/Filler and tell the Nuggets to take it or leave it, as they can sign him as a FA without giving up anything..
As for Nash "Trying to build a team here", seeming how he is most likely done playing after his contract is up, its kind of hard for us to build a team for our future when our back-up PG gets little minutes to develop and all our young players get even less because we are too worried about how to surround Nash with players (old guys) to make him happy and players that are compatible with his form of basketball.
I just think that the longer we hold onto Nash, the more it will hurt our future. Our Nash led Suns window has closed (slammed shut). So blow it up, get the most value that we can, and start a new. If Nash just retires with us, what do we get? Nothing, nada, zilch. With Nash we will be a fringe play-off team (8-12 seed), get sh*tty picks in the draft, but more importantly will not give our young talent the time on the floor to develop.
I look at all the players we drafted in the past and how they became great players because they were given the minutes. Look at Rondo, if we kept him, we wouldnt be nearly the player that he is today. He would still be stuck in Nash's shadow (like Dragic is). But the Celtics gave him an opportunity and he ran with it. And im talking about real minutes too, not garbage minutes in a blow-out playing with the 3rd string. Thats all we gave Clark. We should have given him some meaningful minutes with some of the starters to see what he had, but we didnt.
Nash is having a great season and we suck. Next year his value will just go down even if he is putting up the same numbers that he currently is. Too many people are just worried about the "Now" and not thinking about our future. Those same people will be the ones jumping from the bandwagon to another team, or will quit watching the NBA period. Hell, many have already talked about quitting, but not me. I love this game, and i love this team. I will be here through the good and the bad. I am not a quitter, i am a survivor, i will not give up.
Hate me all you like for being honest. Haters gonna hate.

When have you ever seen Nash speak up about something? Say something bad about the organization? talk down about the FO? Never. Its because he is a great human being. He is a kind and gentile creature. But that can only get you so far.
Garnett was the same way in Minnesota. He never spoke ill about them. He was a company man and always did/said the right thing.

I believe that was Raja, hence why he was traded him so fast. He was upset (as other were) and was the only one to speak up, so they shipped his ass out so he didnt infect the lockeroom.

Tisk..tisk....Kerresd; when was the last time ANYONE did something for the good of the team. Trading Nash would be for the good of this team, so we won't do it. Other than upsetting a few selfish people and Sarver's pocket (maybe, cause fans do attend games anyways) what good is it to keep Nash???

He signed his extension after the Amare to GSW deal fell through on draft day and the roster has had major turnover every year he's been on the team. Pretty sure he knew what he was getting in to.
Trading Nash makes no sense unless the Suns can get a legit asset to build around which is something no team will offer for Nash and no contender would be able to give regardless.

Things will get real when Feb comes around... Loyalty is sports is overrated, we see it every year. The Suns gave him 70+ million freaking dollars. He and his family is set for life. If someone blows your socks off you take the deal yo.
