Expiration Date on Stoudemire's Knee?

A very good article in the New York Times regarding Amare Stoudemire's knee, microfracture surgery and how it affected the Suns and Knicks. Lots of Suns fans are disappointed with the decision Phoenix made, but this article gives some good insight on their thought process and why it wasn't such a big deal for New York. Check it out when you get a chance.

it basically says with microfracture surgery the tissue stays the same, the tests were not done on NBA athletes so who knows.

Dr. Richard Steadman, who pioneered the microfracture procedure in the 1980s, said his follow-up studies — with patients who were, on average, 11 years removed from surgery — had shown no decline in function.

“In general, if the procedure’s successful, the tissue remains resilient indefinitely,” he said.

The patients in those studies were not N.B.A. players. But Steadman has performed the surgery on many athletes, including the Denver Nuggets’ Kenyon Martin and the Portland Trail Blazers’ Greg Oden.

That immediately makes him not credible.
That surgeon who performed on Greg Oden? That's not exactly powerful premise.

He didn't need the surgery to play, they did the surgery early on to try to prolong his career. Amare was basically in the exact same situation as Nash was when he left Dallas. Hope his knees hold up the way Nash's back has.

all joking aside, i think he has some disease, like a serious one. he does not look right in the face, he looks so old. that cant be natural

i realy wish amare the best, but i can totally understand the sarver move. it was not like we were rapping him or so, it was just like amare chose the money. that´s all legitim but i realy want to move on with him. he left, choose money and hopefuly is healthy enough to play some more seasons..
