Dalembert Frustrated; Trade Being Discussed

Post#1 » by Nicky Nix Nook » Thu Jan 6, 2011 6:34 pm

Samuel Dalembert is upset over his recently diminished role with the Kings.

"They have to let me know which direction they want to go," Dalembert said. "They know what I do best. I block shots, rebound, get us in the fast break. Am I going to play the next five years in a place that is a contender, or am I going to be here, helping this team get better? It's up to them. But I am not going to lie. This is very frustrating."

Dalembert's agent, Marc Cornstein, is in Sacramento seeking clarification on his client's role.

"I talked to Geoff (Petrie)," Cornstein said, "and we don't want to hit the panic button. All the reasons we were so excited for him to come here are still there. We're just trying to find a solution. It's really not his choice. That (a potential trade) is for the team to decide. We have to see how things progress and play out."

Not sure how this means a trade is being discussed...

For the most part, the Kings are using him all wrong. They throw it to him in the post at an appalling rate. What the hell is he going to do with the ball there? He's been in the league long enough for us to know: a turnover or an airball. He's best catching alley-oops on offense, and that's it. Blocking shots and rebounding are his strong-suits; I don't know why Westphal insists tossing him the ball to post up or make an offensive decision sometimes more than he does for Cousins. This goes back to Westphal's quote at the beginning of the season that they want Dalembert to be more offensive-oriented...because 8 year veterans can just gain new skills all of a sudden.

I'd be happy to trade him to upgrade Udrih and let Whiteside get some PT. It would be best for everyone.

possibly a 3 way with udrich and mcgee going to a third team.

but get hinrich !

something like -

bobcats trade: nazr, livingston
bobcats get: udrich, mcgee, j.howard

wizards trade: hinrich, mcgee, howard (filler)
wizards get: dalembart, livingston

kings trade: dalembart, udrich
kings get: hinrich, nazr

Well, early on I was pleased with Dally's production. He was rebounding and blocking shots well. He also added surprisingly nice passing from the high post. However, recently - for whatever reason - Dally's been getting the ball in the low post, forcing up horrible fade away shots and forcing passes through a crowd of defenders. He went from a complimentary role to a forcing the issue role, which has doomed his fate.

This is not really new Dally trade talks have been going on for the past few weeks it's just now been posted in the paper !
We will trade DALY without a doubt likely sooner rather than later but we will wait to do a deal until it makes sense .

My guess is he gets dealt to either ORLANDO , NEW YORK , ATLANTA or HOUSTON outside possibilities MEMPHIS , PHOENIX & lastly DENVER ( but only if the KINGS were involved in a 3 way were MELO gets shipped out of DENVER & NO I am not implying we would or wouldnt get MELO to be clear .

The problem is that he doesn't fit our team anymore. Sure, I love his shotblocking and rebounding, but we are having problems scoring this year and that is not his strong suit. If we were a strong scoring team, then he'd be awesome to have at the 5. But we are not, and Cousins gives us the offense we really need to survive.

The one thing I do think we could do, is use him at the 4 alongside Cousins. Not all the time, but Dal is atheletic enough and long enough to cause problems for some 4's. Coach did this once, putting Dal on Zach Randolph and Cus on Gasol. It seemed to work pretty well for a stretch there.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

Don't forget Portland, Detroit, or Indiana. And MAYBE even New Orleans, OKC or Milwaukee.

The way Cousins defended Smith the other night, I think there is no excuse to not use them more as a tandem. I'm not as dead set (probably bitchy is more proper  ) on it as I was at the start of the year, but it can and will work.

I wouldn't mind a trade to Orlando if it meant us getting a couple of their shooters in return.

Send him to PHX for two years (and invaluable lessons) of Steve Nash.

If that move went down, I predict squeaking into the playoff's THIS year and solidly competing next year. Then by the year after that, we can sign his replacement with the cap space from his expiring and our guys haave had a chance to learn from a two-time MVP who makes guys better.

I do not see PORTLAND , DETROIT , INDIANA or MILWAUKEE going after DALY but I do agree with you that OKC & NEW ORLEANS would be possibilities .
