What happened to Dragic/Warrick chemistry?

Post#1 » by gleonard1 » Fri Jan 7, 2011 3:08 pm

Early in the season we were used to seeing plays like this with Dragic and Warrick:

Now the bench looks asleep when on the floor, I don't understand why they don't run the PnR to get themselves some easy buckets and build up some confidence?

What has happened is, Dragic looks lost lately, and Warrick gets no floor time because he plays no defense and gets no boards.

I agree that Dragic looks lost. Wouldn't you think he would feel more comfortable with all these changes in the lineup if he had someone that he could quickly and easily develop chemistry with in the 2 man game?

1) We found out that Warrick was awesomely bad on defense, so he's been playing less.
2) Frye moved to the starting unit when Lopez got injured, which destroyed the spacing for the second unit.
3) Hedo started playing more with the second unit, which changed both Warrick's and Dragic's roles.

Ah yeah I forgot about Hedo playing with 2nd unit more. That definately changed things.
Agreed Warrick is horrible on defense, I would just rather have 4 guys with D and one without than 5 guys with D and a stagnant offense as it has been with this bench lately.
I'm not saying Warrick not playing has made the bench suck, or saying he is a quick fix for it. I just think it would help Dragic get his confidence back.

Lineup changes really screwed up his rhythm and chemistry with the team imo.

Goran Dragic has been absolutely TERRIBLE this season. He really took a step back, and has even stopped playing intelligently defensively.

Warrick really only brings finishing ability, which the Suns have proven they don't need to run an effective offense...So if the team you play for doesn't need the one thing you do well, you sit on the bench.

He started well enough, he was averaging close to a 20/10 per 48 mins at the start of the season (from my memory so take that as it is - without credibility :D)
But yeah definitely agree he has gone downhill since.

True enough with Warrick...who else could Dragic pair up with in the PnR? Gortat is pretty good at it from what I've seen.

He doesn't need a PnR partner.. He needs shooters, thats his game, dribbledrive inside the paint and dishing it to open shooters - Dudley, Frye, Barbosa worked very well last season.

And ofc it starts with great team defense.

He hardly can finish either. Anytime he's near the rim he either dunks it or just throws it up or loses it. He's wildly out of control.

Yeah, I would much rather see someone make a lay-up at a high percentage than make a spectactular dunk every so often and lose it the rest of the time...
