OT: The Official AZ Cardinals offseason thread

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Fri Jan 7, 2011 7:52 am

Almost a week since the season ended, thought I'd put this up for anyone who wants to talk some football

So looks like the lockout will make things more complicated but regaurdless this is definately going to be an interesting off season for the Cards

The main and most important thing to do? Of course to find a QB: There are plenty of options out there. They can take one through the draft or trade for one.

Speaking of the draft they hold the #5 pick which is valuable, this team usually drafts where they are assigned at in the first round so I don't see them trading up or down in the first round.

Also finding a new DC is going to be a priority and should improve the team

So let's here how everyone would go about fixing this team, who do you want to see them get at QB, etc?

My money says we draft Cam Newton. Dude is a Rich mans Michael Vick. He will be amazing, and most of the draft talk that i heard has hi going to us because of the teams drafting ahead of us not needing a QB.

He was also sitting courtside during the Suns-Lakers game. :D :D :D

Agreed, but not sure he will last until #5 with Luck staying in school. Panthers could get desperate and take him but I would be surprised if they still go with a QB, might just give Clausen some time to develop. Broncos already have Tebow and he looks solid so they pass. The Bengals coach already said Palmer's his guy so they pass. The Bills seem like the only real competition...but hopefully they get one of the other guys.

F the Cardinals go Buc's. Btw, I was at the game Oct 31st when we tapped that ass. I taunted the whole stadium after the Blount "high hurdle" run.....

The Suns, Cubs, Bucs and Islanders are the only teams worth talking about in my book :D

With Luck off the board I think AJ Green is the first overall pick. He is a Fitz / Moss type game changer. Question is - Does Whiz feel confident coming off a horrible season and trusting in a rooking QB? Hard to imagine.

I think we go after a vet like Carson Palmer or McNabb and use the draft to upgrade our pass rush. The NC kid Quinnorthe Clemson kid Bowers are very strong possibilities. Not a lot of stud LB's in this draft.
