The thing with Nash is...
As long as he plays for the Suns... the Suns are not bad enough to be top 10 lottery... but also stuck between 10th place and 5th place in the playoff race....

He surely can "stay", but the Suns need to get their "young" stud from the lottery somehow....

I say.. tank the season, let the "new" guys gel and increase a couple of player's worth....trade them off season....

get a top 10 talent.. preferrably a PF/C

then re-tool..... for a 2011-2012 run...

keep Pietrus, Gortat, Carter... unless Carter can attract other "key" players....
Improve chemistry by trading away the excess at the SF position..

All contenders have established point guards or systems that don't fit Nash.

We won't get anything valuable for him.

He stays.

Anyone else see Nash's quote from Coro today? Said he "foolishly" thought the suns would keep stoudemire.

Oh wow, that could be the first chink in the armor from him! That may be his suttle quiet way of starting to pipe up about not wanting to be here!

On Suns negotiations with Stoudemire: "I can’t be critical of that. That’s not my money. Obviously, I wanted Amar'e to stay. I think I maybe foolishly thought he would. Somehow I thought we would get to an agreement."

I just feel so sorry for him. I can't continue watching him here. It's just so so painful to watch him trying so hard to contain his displeasure towards the situation.

I actually took this to mean that Nash knew the logistics involved with a new contract, knew that it was futile, but still hoped.

That's not Nash admitting something we don't already know. That's him aknowledging something that was obvious. Sarver would have been paying Stoudemire MAX money three years past Nash's contract... all that considering Amare's looming knee surgury and the fact that his contract would be uninsurable.

Nash isn't an idiot. I believe he'll be a smart FO mainstay someday.

That's FO Nash saying: "The move made sense"
That's player Nash saying: "I lost my running buddy" :(

I know Atlanta is not a true contender now.... but with Nash they would be. So that is not entirely true.

Therefore i will always look at ways of improving this teams chances at having a future. Getting some young talent and draft picks for Nash is better than getting nothing when he retires.

Did you miss this part of his statement ?? "I'm committed to trying to build a team here".

Blah blah blah. Its lip service. All pro athletes (the good ones) do it. Did you expect him to come out talking sh*t? Was he supposed to say "I signed a contract expecting Stat and the rest of the SSOL crew to be here, but the FO screwed me by shipping away the entire team" ?

---- Nash has never shied away from saying what he really thinks. He's well-spoken and diplomatic, yes, but he's not one for canned answers and cliches. I take him at his word - and in that interview he did address Stat leaving. He said, maybe he was naive but he thought they'd get a deal done.
They didn't and now they have to move on.
he did say what he meant.thought earldier when he said, "I signed up to play with these guys - well, some of these guys" so really, Nash is not likely to pay lip service .... and at this point he has nothing to lose by speaking his mind, does he?

edit - didn't see that the Coro quotes had been posted. It was 'foolish', not 'naive' as i recalled it - same sentiment though

Felton/Amare are clicking. Doubt the Knicks want to mess that up.

whoever said then our offense would be down.... felton avgs more pts about the same assists and rebounds and is a better defender... i love nash to death for what he has done but his defense and old age is a liability...
