To echo what others have said, coming to the Jays board is a nice bit of relief from some of the non-sensical stuff that happens on the Raps' board. I actually joined realgm for the raptors forum but after a few years, I just couldn't handle it anymore, so I went over to the media lounge. Unfortunately, that one died down a little bit so I eventually shifted over to mostly using the General Off-topic board.
When they first launched the "other 3 sports" boards, I was pumped but they just didn't live up to my expectations (I thought everyone else was going to be eager to use them). I remember coming to the Jays board and seeing very few posts. I tried participating but it was hard to get motivated to see my own posts 3 days lter. When I redicovered the forum last year, I was floored by how much better it was. And while the campaign to post Jays related topics in the Raptors forum might have annoyed some, I think it gained the forum pretty good exposure.
As for ideas to expand the forum, maybe we can get someone skilled at making signatures to make some specific to this forum.
ie, "The Jays Forum: where beating a dead horse is frowned upon" (I put 5.7 seconds into thinking about that one, but I'm sure someone here is much better than me at thinking these things up) or "The Jays Forum: The only Toronto forum where hope still lives". They don't need to be smart or even funny: "Like smart, informative sports talk? Visit the Jays forum". Or you can play on the culture of hatred on the Raps board and do things like have cross promotion. i.e., "Hate Kleiza? We do to. -- The Jays Forum". It doesn't need to make sense, it just needs to say "JAYS FORUM" as clearly as possible.
I think the forum itself is quite solid and doesn't require any tweaking. It just needs a tiny increase in membership.
