I'm ok with the UTA 1st, but I don't think his value is up at the MEM 1st, or two late 1sts.

Agreed - there's no way I would give up the Mem pick for Randolph. They can let him hand towels to Stoudamire during timeouts if that's the only way they'll trade him. His value is no way more than a late 1st right now. They can get some use from Telfair and it avoids them having to pay heavier for a Ramon Sessions type of player.

If someone else trades a pick similar to the Memphis pick and gets Randolph, I'll be disappointed to know that we could have got him and didn't.

Randolph is better than anybody we're going to get with that Mem 1st this year. Just saying. I don't care if he has lower value right now but he definitely has more potential than a mid 1st round pick in a bad draft. :dontknow:

I'm tired of acquiring these Wayne Ellington's.

Ellington wasn't a mid first round pick, he was like 27th.

But will he have more value than anyone we could get with the Top-12 protected MEM 1st in the deep 2012 draft?

If the season ended today, that's what that pick turns into.

If I'm Kahn, I'm probably starting to feel a little uneasy about how restless the fanbase is getting with each growing loss. Waiting to vest that pick in 2012 doesn't seem like a great option for him. I expect he'll use it as part of the "singular" move he has foretold the fanbase about.

BUT....

Call me crazy, but I think that Memphis pick vests to us this year.

Portland -- no Roy

Denver -- probably no Melo

Memphis -- playing well lately: http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerrankings

Don't underestimate the Grizzlies' ability to implode. And I bet even if Denver trades Melo they play well and exceed expectations. George Karl and Chauncey Billups seem to have a pretty great bond, and there's a lot of emotional investment over there. Watch them make the playoffs anyway.

Also if it doesn't vest this year it's also possible it doesn't vest next year. There's not a big difference between 12 and 14 and they may lose their PF who is putting up 19 and 12.

I'd be surprised if they let Randolph go. Even with Gay, Conley and Gasol the priorities, Randolph is a huge part of their team.
