We need another big

Post#1 » by starbuck785 » Fri Jan 7, 2011 4:03 am

Someone to help out down low not so much for scoring but blocks and boards. Blair is a beast but about 5 inches to short and still very raw.

Guys out there we could sign

Earl Barron
Dwanye Jones
Pops Mensah Bonsu
Mikki Moore
Brian Zoubek (Maybe)
Marcus Cousin Plays for the Toros Maybe bring him up

This is bull!!! Nolan, lock this up please.

To be honest thou, guys like Baron, Bonsu, Jones, and everybody you listed won't be getting playing time even if they're here. You seriously would play them over Blair just because Blair is shorter? or even play them over Dice? Or Bonner? Or Splitter? We have 5 bigs who needs playing time. We're not gonna sign our 13th player to give him minutes over our current 5 bigs.

There's a roster spot open and the only position that needs help that can get some playing time is at SF. I think what guys are saying about getting Carney or Wright makes more sense. However, I'm hoping we get a veteran player. I think right now we're starting to get too young for my liking.

All of the above listed bigs are junk and make Bonner look like a HOF lock. No thanks.

If our bigs stay healthy we don't need another one. Right now Pops is alternating McDyess and Splitter in different games which shows that we have enough bigs as it is. I can guarantee you if Splitter was playing elsewhere he would get regular playing time but with us he's been playing in only half of the games and he's not been that bad either. But it's a luxury to be able to rest McDyess one night and bring him fully rested in the next game. Still, we need to add a 13th player to the roster so we have to see but it would be a surprise if this player is a big and not a SF.

What I ment is that another big maybe not those guys maybe play splitter more. I love Blairs game and those guys I listed are just big thats all nothing more nothing less. Im just saying another shot blocker and rebounder would be nice. Hell Im all for getting a SF if he hits the boards and contests some shots.

I'm not a mod on this board.

But I really don't think we need another big and to add to that there's no one out there worth sigining. I really think we'll be fine with what we got.

What we really need is a backup SF. Antoine Wright is the dude I want.

I agree that we could use a sf my point is out of all the front courts in the west we are small and only have one true shot blocker. I realize there is no quality bigs out there thats why my list sucked. I understand Blair is good and never said I would start any of those others ahead of him I just feel some more size come playoff time could help.

It could help if we got someone good enough to contribute. But I just don't see how we can do that.

Our best trade chip is actually Dice (will retire which makes him somewhat of an expiring). Problem is, Spurs know he's retiring and I don't think we send him off to some crappy team to retire. He's probably our best chance on getting a better backup SF.

I guess he could be bought out and sign back with us? But I agree I doubt we treat him that way.

All our bigs, apart from TD, are all energy guys. Splitter has become an energy guy too because he doesn't get many mins, so he just hustles and fouls. Dampier would have been perfect for the Spurs. Pitty we didn't snatch him up

We should go after Dalembert

I don't think were gonna be playing Splitter in 4th qtrs, and need more length around the basket other than Duncan, and to a lesser degree, McDyess.
