Is a pretty solid team. It won't win a title but its a top 8 team in the East and would fill up some seats.

The Nets will only go as far as Lopez takes them and if he continues to play soft it's not going to be very far. He only averages 6.1 rpg, he averaged 8.7 rpg last season, and this season he has only grabbed ten or more rebounds during two games.

That team goes as far as Melo takes them.

If they bring Nene along with Melo, not Billups,it would be much better team.
Lopez is getting worse by worse everyday,I don't even know if he is still the 2nd best player of the current Nets,Humphries just outplays him this season.

I really wish that trade would go thru. I wouldnt be scared of Jersey at all. 2 corpses starting plus no defense down low.

Nuggets prepared to weigh offers. Outside of NJ and NYK the teams that made offers so far is Chicago, Houston, and LAC.

That isn't even close lol. NY is a lot more desirable.

unless Melo is really close to Chauncey. Remember, this is all about making Melo happy so he will resign after the trade. If he likes playing with Billups and thinks he could win with Billups and the others, Melo might sign on.

I agree the NY roster is a hell of a lot more attractive though

That team looks like it was put together by a Russian used car salesman.

Nets need to be patient and keep drafting high for a couple of years. It's a few seasons too soon to take on salaries, Lopez and Harris are under contract till 2012/13. They're not going to land any big free agents, but they can continue to build trade assets (hopefully of better value than Outlaw).

If they blow their wad now they have no picks or cap flexibility for a team that would most likely struggle to get out of the first round. Added bonus to waiting is you allow the sun to set a little bit on the Heat and other eastern elites. A few more top 10 picks and a lot of luck and they might be releveant in 3 to 5 years as opposed to dead in the water again over a half ass rebuild.

Jay Z needs to step in and offer this bit of advice to Billy King.
The strong move quiet, the weak start riots.

Nets have been looking foolish this entire time.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.

Didn't know a Western Conference player of the week could be a corpse.

Are you really that incompetent to think they'd actually be renting Melo?

Melo wants to go to a contender like Chicago no way this happens.

Wow so much hate. Everyone acts like the Knicks team is soooo much better. Take Amare off the Knicks right now and you have a team not much better than the Nets. And with Billups, Hamilton, AND Melo I would say the Nets could be better.

Why does it matter if the Knicks team is more appealing? Denver has no interest in spare parts and Melo has no interest in gambling his financial stability with the new CBA.

The fact of the matter is this Nets team would be pretty good an with a few more changes it could end up being a title contender.

Ease up a little, I couldn't imagine Melo signing an extension with the Nets, but if true then sorry I guess ? :-?

Uhm... what? Billups has per36 stats almost the same as his Detroit days. He also has a 63% TS which is the highest of his career so far.

All of this despite a crappy start to the season.

who cares about per 36min stats? he only plays 33mins

I hope that was sarcastic.

The Humphries/Brook frontline has been pretty good. Chauncey reunited with Rip could do really well too. I don't think they'd be much worse, if at all, than NY.

Melo wants to sign an extension. Denver wants the best deal. Put two and two together and there's a good chance he gets traded to NJ.

I feel sorry for you Nets fan, really I do, because your GM has brain washed you into thinking that Melo really does want to sign an extension, its just that the Nets do not have the proper assets to make the trade.

Really I do feel for your team. I'm not saying that Nets would not land Melo, they might, but it will be without that extension.

Haha sure so I guess all these rumors flying around about Melo and the Nets are just being made up for fun right? I'll believe ESPN over you anytime.

And the Nets would NEVER give up all their assets unless Melo signed an extension. They've made that very clear.

The fact of the matter is Denver isn't even gonna entertain the Knicks. Eddy Curry, Gallo, and no picks is perhaps one of the worst offers they've received.

If anything, the reason this trade doesn't happen is because Melo doesn't agree to an extension. I'm pretty sure everyone agrees the Nets have the BEST assets to offer. Or at least they are currently offering the best. How many teams can beat Favors, Murphy, Harris, and multiple first round picks?
