Tough, but I selected Lewis, his early hot-shooting help to deflate the Nets early. Wall was the engine that made it happen.

1. Lewis
2. McGee - Nice all-round effort despite the TO's, I wish they kept stats for shot-altering
3. Wall

Rashard was sexsational.
Big Daddy Wookie meshed style and substance rather splendidly.
Dray managed not to stink.

Honorable mention - the Nyets

You know you suck arse when Shart has to come to the rescue.
McGee deserves better than Flip.
Wall's shot is ugly...but damn can he pass.

...who's that n*gga over there with the barber didn't pay the electric bill haircut? Holy ****, is Andray Snatch still on this team?

Lewis - To bad it was the worst trade in Wizards history. Where is that thread anyway?
McGee - Came out of the gates fast. He out played Lopez. Revenge
Nick Young - He didnt force his game when other where hot, still scored and dished 5 assist.

Is that a career high for Nick ?

I don't mind Lewis on this team one bit
McGee could still end up being an amazing player one day
Nick .. added to his game even if he didn't it 20. He played as a team player which was mature.

As much as it has sucks loosing, this team has some pieces and they are showing progress. The have a coach who doesn't mind teaching them and he is focusing them on defense. We may not have a tree of ripe fruit to pick today, but you can see it ripening.

Lewis is playing himself and acting himself into a team leader role.

1. Lewis
2. McGee
3. ???? Wall/Blatche/Young

Lewis kickstarted us with his shooting in the 1st qtr and was really hitting the boards. McGee was terrorizing the Nets with his blocks and activity level.

The other starters all played well but nobody else really stood out. Wall had a solid floor game, Blatche upped his defensive intensity and Young actually passed the ball. Great all around effort against a bad team.

+1

#3 can indeed be any of those players; Wall for being his usual self (even when he still not a 100%), Young for freakin passing the ball a total of 5 times(!!!), or Dray for sucking a lil bit less (Though 4-11 is not good at all for a PF, oh well...)

Pine, thanks for the aloha!

I have to praise Flip Sauders for playing McGee 34 minutes, despite 5 turnovers. Hustle mistakes or trying too hard, or just being out control doesn't kill team when that same player hits 7-9 and blocks 6 shots. Props to Flip for seeing the good.

For POTG, I like

1. Lewis. He could sulk about being a Wizard while Orlando goes on a winning spree, but Shard is a pro. He busts tail and grabs 13 boards. Character and leadership displayed.
2. McGee. Stat stuffer and game changer.
3. Young. Six free throw attempts (if he made more than three, he'd be second POTG) and five assists show Nick continues to grow into a complete player. He's the most consistent Wizard. Imagine that!

When Flip lets McGee into the offense the team will win more than they lose.

CCJ - don't give NY too much credit for the six free throws - two were technical foul shots where he was elected to shoot for the Wiz (and he missed both). That said, he had a very solid all around game.

PoG choices:

1. The Li'l water buffalo for eluding certain death from 5(!) lions and a huge croc.

2. The big-daddy buffalo who tossed two(!) lions and chased a few out beyond midcourt. I think the wiz have found their starting PF!

3. The croc. Although he didn't end up with the meal, he showed some very excellent stealth and opportunism going for the unearned meal. I haven't seen quick paws like those since JoHo went back on the shelf!

True but he also should have gone to the free throw line 2 more times when he had a pump fake and caught his defender in mid air. Should have been 2 free throws but the refs instead ruled it a turnover by Nick Young.

That and I recall another play where he didn't get a break from the refs. Then they ran a play for him and he got off a really tough shot, even by Nick standards. Nick had a kind of tough start but he kept his head in the game. I really like how much more serious he is on the court. You can see the change in his facial expressions.

But while the offense was rolling, I was proud of Nick for not being selfish and forcing himself into the action ( ala AJ, etc ). That is a huge sign of maturity. Instead, Nick bought in to what was going on and found other ways to contribute until he got his opportunities to score. This is the underlying kind of story which people may want to watch because this is how you evaluate a player growing mentally and expanding their game. This is the basketball IQ stuff.

That is huge stuff for the Nickman.

Nick has been my favorite player this year. Lewis could creep into second very soon or maybe make a push for first.
