Mav fan: Jackson or Wallace?
Hey guys, Mav fan here. I just want to get your thoughts on who you think is a better fit for Dallas: Jack or Crash.
Before, we were in need of a SG that can create his own shot and also defend. However, with Butler gone, we have a hole at SF which makes either of the two guys legit options.
Offensively, Nowitzki draws a ton of attention creating open shots for guys. As you can see from Stevenson, he's transformed into a Bruce Bowen clone because of it. Not sure if Jack would thrive on this role because it takes him 35 seconds to get that catapult jumpshot off and I'm not sure if Crash's jump shot has improved to the point that you can trust him to knock down open shots. We also have a gimmick "play" called the flow offense in which we don't run any plays and give the ball to the guy who's hot and let him fling shots to his heart's content until he finally cools off. Then we also have the occasional open court attack from the turnovers we force which I'm sure Crash would excel at.
Defensively, we like to play some man to man and refuse to double as much as possible so we expect everyone to be able to hold their guys down. Then in opportune moments, we will play zone.

Jack is a better fit for you guys right now. Since your defense has improved anyway under Carlisle and the fact you got Marion who could strictly play the 3 defend the 4, i'd say Jack would be a better fit. Could start Jack at sf and rotate Marion in at 3 move Jack to the 2. Plus, like you pointed out, with Dirk drawing a lot of attention from defenses, Jack being the better scorer/shooter would have the advantage there too.

Jack is the 2 who creates, and can certainly defend both the 2 and the three. He's definitely a 2 way player.

With the way Henderson is playing, it frees up a spot for him.

If we get Beaubois for Jack, with Butler's expiring i'd do it hard and fast, also depends on how Henderson performs as a starter with Wallace out.

I wouldn't. JAck is > Butler even without the injury. Roddy is an unknown.

I'm not sure why some people have a hard on for Beaubois. I just don't see it.

This. We already have DJ. Sure he's a more valued prospect than Tank, but why bother giving up Jack (who plays well for us) in return for a bench sitter?

I'd trade anybody on the roster for Roddy. I can't really explain why, but I watched a ton of their games last year and there's no denying the kid has something special.

What about him? Because he's pretty much injured.

At least give it a shot? You're advocating trading "anyone" on our roster.

Well, Crash is in decline. Jack is old and on a bad contract, DJ isn't as good as Roddy, neither are anybody else on the roster save Tyrus--but he has a bad contract compared to Roddy. So maybe that helps? (not trying to be smartass, just trying to flesh out my opinion)

Re: Mav fan: Jackson or Wallace?
If you haven't seen Roddy play, than you can't speak on him. Ask any Mavs fan they'll tell you why he's garnered a lot of attention since he's been in the league. He's more of a scoring guard, can shoot lights out, create off the dribble, spot up, silky smooth stroke, athletic like Rondo with a higher vertical, solid on ball defensive player, good IQ....he can do it all. His role would be the perfect 6th man, if we trade Wallace instead and move Jack to the 3 and Henderson starts at sg, with Tyrus and Roddy coming off the bench i think that could fill a big hole on our roster in terms of scoring/shooting and depth.
But that's just me.

Don't wany anyone on mavs roster for wallace ad jax. Beaubois has shown abolutely nothing. And dallas has raped us in trade repatedly. I don't want to do them any favors by giving them one of our 2 best players. Especially when their best offer includes an injured prospect. Only thing I would consider is if tey are willing to take diops contract back. Otherwise no thanks an buzz off dallas

Roddy reminds me of someone like Barbosa - which would be his total limit. Not a PG. Not a SG. Just an impact bench scoring undersized player.
Not exactly someone I would give up anyone on our roster for.

Tyrus's contract is fine. It lasts well beyond the time at which he might be worth ten million.
And why should I think roddy is better than DJ?
