When will Durant NOT win the scoring title?

Post#1 » by fallacy » Sun Jan 9, 2011 6:08 am

Serious question, how long will it be until he DOESN'T win the scoring title? He's probably got the next 5 years or so locked up. With lebron and wade on the same team, melo going to new york with amar'e, and kobe falling off; I just don't see anyone who can touch his scoring efficiency and volume.

Uh..I'm not really sure. Barring injury/sudden decline like T-Mac he will probably break Jordan's record of 10 IMO. I kind of wish he would phase out the 3 except when wide open though, kind of like Dirk did when he developed. Durant's mid range game seems unstoppable at this point and he's shooting 57% from 2 since December.

I'm sure there's some prospect not on the radar that has a shot and maybe Melo will up his volume somehow in NY. Wade could decline leaving Lebron open to try after it.

He seems like the favorite for a good long while

I really prefer Durant not winning scoring titles, but a better balanced offense that can make Thunder winning NBA Finals. His FG% are not that good for a player that has the ultimate killing skills, it's all because he is over-called to finishing.

The top 2 scorers in the league the past 3 season is in the same team. Amare has a chance, playing in a faster pace offense unless Carmelo goes to Knicks next season (most likely). Dirk is primarily a jumpshooter (although very affective) and does not need to focus on the scoring title. Durant is a better scorer and has better size than Ellis. Rose has a great team that doesn't need him to score as much as Durant. Wall is a talented playmaker but a great scorer also and Wizards would probably prefer him to be the primary playmaker with their nice young core. Griffin has a great chance to compete for the title this decade if he increase his shooting volume. So ye, he has a great chance to win it nearly eveyr year for at least 5 years depending on injuries.

I hope it's not a priority for him to win it every year. Developing his post game more, passing ability, and rebounding, he'll be more effective and near impossible to defend. It'll be much easier to score and average at high 20's to low 30's at great percentages.
