Nothing new. They are just re-hashing the Pistons rumor.

I don't really trust D'Antoni with guys like Harrington. I could easily see him playing Harrington 25+MPG. 30 wouldn't surprise me. I think you have to take certain guys away from MD. I would have to give MD high approval ratings at this point, for obvious reasons, but I still don't trust him with offensive players. He can't help himself.

if we get melo while only giving up gallo/ar which seems to be the only way it will happen there isn't 25 minutes for him to play. and even if there was he'd spend 15 of those minutes camped at the 3 point line. look nobody wants him but if that's what you got to do you do it. would you rather give up more of our assets ?

4 more years of Harrington (after this season) ... I might rather give up more assets. Not sure to be honest.

I could seriously see GS trying to nab him with something like Ellis, D Wright and the expiring of Gadzuric or Radmonovich for Melo and Harrington.

Thats kind of my fear, that a team like that, or Houston etc will take a flyer and convince him to stay.

The team who drafted him and who he gave his soul and sweat to for 7 years can't convince him to stay, but Houston can?

I live in Houston. They aren't convincing anyone of anything.

 WHO??

This is the best. I crack up every time I watch it. The beauty of technology.

Put yourself in Melo's shoes.

If you really wanted to be a Knick and you essentially were in your FINAL YEAR with the Knicks having the cap space to sign you next year- why would you agree to sign an extension with one of the worst teams in the league... It makes no sense...

Denver has no choice but to leak all of their efforts to keep Melo or trade him for the best value. They have to show their fan base that they have exhausted all possibilities.

Two other points from Melo's perspective one which hasn't been mentioned often. Melo has spent almost 8 years with one team. He has experienced the rebuilding process. Not to mention, he has witnessed how successful "stacked" teams are in this league. Why would he turn down an opportunity to join Felton, Amare, Fields, Chandler(assuming a sign and trade at season's end can be orchestrated) or Gallo (depending on who would go in the June sign and trade). He gets to come home. He gets to play where the lights shine the brightest. He gets an owner who will stop at nothing to support improving his team. And finally he can take a little less(second point not discussed often here) as Lebron, Wade and Bosh did to give the Knicks even more flexibility.

That being said, I don't see a trade happening unless some teams decides to rent Melo...

And stop worrying about a lock-out. It's not happening- not in these economic times. No one on both sides will take the chance of pissing the public off...

Why would GS trade who may consider it's best player for a maybe?

As for HOU, what could they give that would entice Denver?

Yeah, i know, but this drama is doing my head in. I just reckon we are going to get screwed over and end up perhaps missing other trades because we waited for this to resolve itself.

Or perhaps i'm just getting impatient.

Just focus on the Knicks. This is a ton different from last yr. Last yr the Knicks sucked so all we had was 2010. This yr, the Knicks are winning. We have an actual team we can focus on now. We don't have to hope and pray for a savior.

Does it mean anything to you guys that billups agent had to come out and say he won't go to nj doesn't that mean something might be close?

They've been close twice already but guess what? Carmelo didn't agree to the extension twice.

It means that Billups is just letting everyone know that he knows the Nets stink and you can trade all the old Larry Brown Pistons in the world to NJ and they will still stink. And that he wants no part of stinking.

it means that denver and new jersey are talking. we knew that. they still need to convince melo that they've put together a team good enough for him to extend.

They should pull Billups from the deal and let the Nets keep Harris. Denver is getting amazingly greedy here. They really are.
