I'm not saying Melo isn't close to Fat Joe. Closer than he is to Jay-Z. But he knows Jay-Z and respects him. He isn't going to let his agents use the Nets like that, most likely. Though I don't know Melo personally, but that seems far fetched.

Only way this is fake is if Melo's agents really don't know what he's thinking. I doubt they're trying to screw the Nets or doing so at his direction. And I find it hard to believe that they don't know what their client will or will not do.

Or the "sources" that Woj etc are getting this from simply aren't reliable.

Bottom line is DEN has made it clear they do not want to deal with Knicks, period. It was always going to be up to Melo to use leverage.

DEN was willing to play chicken with him by Feb. 24 because they knew the CBA worried him. Agents in his ear on losing $$ in new CBA as FA.

F Denver I hope they have great time in the bottom half of the league for the next five years. It was foolish of them to not want to talk to NY, I really hope this bites them hard in ass for that reason alone. This is on Mello forcing his way and he has not done it. I hope he likes holding Stats jock for the next 4 years if he signs with NJ

The only entity that should be blamed is melo. If the deal went down I doubt anyone here would fault denver for doing that deal.

Nope Denver is at fault for not talking to NY dude I am not saying take the deal but flat out not talking scummy move by a vindictive owner

NJ and Den have something in common: They are both keen on making sure Melo doesn't go to the Knicks -- NJ because they can't have Melo come to the Garden and further marginalize the Nets in the tri-state area; Denver because of bitterness over suspicions of tampering and anger at the fact that their franchise player would rather be here.

If Melo' winds up in NJ, you can bet I'm going to be rooting for the Knicks to pour it on whenever they play Denver or NJ :)

As lame as it is for Melo to go to the Nets, for Melo mostly, just think about being Chris Sheridan. Not a good day for him or Melo, lol.

Man if the Nets get Melo, Billups and Hamilton they would be good for maybe 2 years. Heres the starting lineup
pg-Billups
sg-Hamilton
sf-Anthony
pf-somebody?
c-Lopez

Personally I dont think it happens, due to the fact that Billups wouldnt want to be there mostly. But even so, this team doesnt scare anybody. The Knicks would walk that team.

Walsh needs to get on the phone and get creative.

Curry and 2nd round pick for Melo.

Done.

I don't think that team is good even for the next two years. They'll be pretty bad. Billups is 70% as good as he was, at best, and Rip averages 13 PPG and is a shell of himself on a poor team (for years he's been on bad teams).

Talking about Billups and Rip as good complements to Melo is very similar to how Cavs fans thought Shaq would be the perfect fit. And we all saw how that worked out. Guys with good names and reputations who can no longer physically ball at a high level are not good pieces to build on. Throw in the fact that the Nets would be woeful at the 4 and have no depth.

Honestly, it's a terrible trade for the Nets too. But I guess their owner is just not willing to let Melo go to the Knicks.

Laughing pretty hard at Melo over here. All his 03 draft buddies got to decide their futures, but now he's being pressured by his team to go to the Nets.

I'm looking at this team and meh. Is Melo really gonna sign with:

C. A center that's rebounding about as well as Curry and has gotten butter-in-the-microwave soft
PF: A PF that shouldn't be starting
SG: An over the hill 2 guard
PG: A PG that doesn't even want to be there.

Either he's dumb or being used big time.

I don't blame him. Melo to the Knicks would basically guarantee that the Nets will never, ever get a hold on NY's market.

What, you don't think Melo would have gone to the Nets if he had a real free-agent choice?

Maybe he's dyslexic and could be fooled into thinking the Nets are 26-10.

It probably is. Billups/Afflalo/Nene are probably equal to Billups/Rip/Lopez, and Denver is waaay deeper. Lawson is their backup pg ffs.

Rip is way over the hill. Billups is over the hill but not as bad as Rip. They're both noticeably less effective than they used to be. I'd rather have Aaron Afflao than Rip. Nene has had a better season than Lopez. Any PF on the Nuggets is better than Humphries.
