Re: RIP TO NJ (REAL RUMOR!!!!)
Even if Rip gets traded tomorrow, I will never believe it until the game against Chicago. This is just too good to be true. Getting rid of Rip so Gordon can get more minutes, Tmac plays behind Gordon and Daye gets more minutes. On top of that, we get an expiring. Bring on Petro. If you guys are so desperate to not get him, then we can move Prince, Petro, and Maxiell to the Warriors who can give us back just expirings.
Defense wins championships

Re: RIP TO NJ (REAL RUMOR!!!!)
I think if we take back Petro it'll be with a pick coming back to us (probably just a 2nd rounder but Joe has done some solid work in the 2nd round so I won't complain).
I think if he can manage to unload RIP and get nothing but expirings we might have to send out a 2nd rounder...
Either way I'm happy, if for nothing else, it gives our young guys more burn and helps the rebuild process.

I think there is 0 chance we take on Petro. Rip for Murphy+ should be the deal for us. This might be NJ last shot at get Melo and they NEED US BADLY. They will bow down and do whatever Joe D demand to get it done. Book it.

Re: RIP TO NJ (REAL RUMOR!!!!)
I wonder if there is any chance that we could move Tay to Denver (large expiring, and fills their need for a SF) and bring in Devin Harris to Detroit to fill our starting PG issues...
I'm willing to bet that Denver already sees Ty Lawson as their PG of the future and may not really want Harris at his price tag.
Move Rip and Tay and end up with a younger Harris and expirings and we'd become.
C:Wallace/Maxiell
PF:Monroe/CV
SF:Tmac/Daye
SG:Gordon/Stuckey
PG:Harris/Stuckey
I could live with that for the rest of the year.

When people started including Detroit in the Denver/NJ talks here on RealGM that was the deal bstein14. Murphy and Harris for Rip and Tay. So what you are saying have a foundation, but i don't think that's what have been discussed.

This would be amazing. Id take back all the trash I talked about Joe D in the past year
Then if Pistons could find away to ditch Max/CV in the offseason, it would be a dream.
Nets-Pistons nearing agreement on terms of Hamilton-Murphy component - still debating Petro --- but overall deal is "real close," source says

Honestly, I would start Stuckey alongside Harris and then bring Gordon off the bench.
And to the people not wanting Petro's contract...he'll just be our new Chris Wilcox. No big deal.

Does that mean even if Melo does not come, Rip is being shipped out??

Rather try to pry Lawson from Denver for Tay....something like Lawson/filler for Tay and his expiring. Although I know that's probably a long shot.

No chance Denver trades Lawson right after opening up a bigger role for him minus Billups.
Lawson/Afflalo is their backcourt of the future IMO.
Harris could work out with them and make a 3 guard rotation but I also think that they might prefer to have more capspace and not have Harris's fairly large contract.

Im not reading any Piston fan agreeing with you that Rip is worth a top 5 pick and expiereings. You want an unprotected 1st rd pick from the Nets for Rip. Essentialy you believe Rip has more trade value than I believe Prince has. The Cavs got 2 late 1sts for LBJ but you think Rip has more value and is worth a lottery pick.
No offense but those that do agree with some of your ideas are fans that are more wishing than analysing. bstien, da-met and parrots posts read more like the kid going through the Sears catalouge not actualy shopping at Sears.
We can all wish we could parlay Will Bynum for Derek Rose and although 100% of Pistons fans like the trade that doesnt make it reasonable or realistic.
Instead of offering the 11 pick I would offer the right to switch picks in 12 and 13.

Calling it a long shot is an understatement. Completely unrealistic would be more accurate.Piston Pete wrote:Rather try to pry Lawson from Denver for Tay....something like Lawson/filler for Tay and his expiring. Although I know that's probably a long shot.

Not sure I'd want to do Harris+ for Tay. Might rather tradde Tay for an upgrade at PF/C to pair with Monroe...

Re: RIP TO NJ (REAL RUMOR!!!!)
If the pistons can move Rip and get stuck with Petro, I am fine with that. Ben can help the dude develop into a decent backup center.
Now, all the Pistons have to do is move BG also. Getting out of his contract will greatly help the team in the future. The dude will never play Pistons ball. I am not impressed with anything he has done since he became a starter. Might as well trade him now before he becomes untradeable.

Have felt this way about BG for a long time too. Would love to trade him while his stock is still high and can bring us decent value back.
Would love to do BG+Tay for Kirilenko/CJ Miles or BG for Jason Thompson+

Being the starting SG on this team means nothing. He's virtually splitting with Rip. I'd give him a chance to play on a balanced team first.
