Uzoh's contract is too small and Morrow has to be involved, too.
This trade would work: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=2bxgmqz

Sources: Proposed deal is 'melo, billups, hamilton, carter to NJ for harris, favors, uzoh, graham and picks. Murphy and Petro to DET.

How does the proposed trade even work under the cap? The Nets are taking on $43 million in salary and only sending out $32mill. They don't currently have any cap space to soak up the difference.....what am I missing here?

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=2bxgmqz

gotta involve morrow.

edit: beat to it.

Add Udoh to Denver and it is 13 player trade...now question reamins are White and Summer also are going to NJN from Det...so it wil be, if this will go through 13-15 player trade!!!

I still dont understand. There is a $10mill difference between the Nets salaries coming in vs those going out. Do the Nets have a TPE that I am not aware of? How is this difference being absorbed?

You can take on 125% + 100K of the salaries that are going out.

That's the one part I don't get about this deal. Why would Melo do this?

If all he wants is to be close to New York, I guess it makes sense. But he can't be that desperate just for location, can he?

Melo seriously wants to sign with the Knicks... not Nets.

Nets if they do get Melo

C: Lopez
F: Humpries
F: Anthony
G: Hamilton
G: Billups? (He wants a buyout)

How is that better than what he has with the Nuggets at the moment?

Maybe because they play in the East...

This trade will get done, Melo will be playing for the Nets and some people will keep repeating this.

He goes there because he wants that extension. It's really as simple as that.

There still a 7 seed. An old 7 seed that cannot win a title. Thats what Melo wants. If accepts the trade to NJ that means he'd rather get more money than compete for a title. Plain and simple

That doesn't make any sense. He could get the extension anywhere. It's blatantly obvious that the Nuggets will trade him rather than lose him for nothing - they've even said so in public. So if he wants one specific team, he has the power to force that.

Its January and the 8th seed only has 15 wins while the nets have 10 wins, they will easily make the playoffs.

And imo in the east, melo has a much better chance of competing with this team than in the west with the nuggets. With a Vujacic trade at the deadline for a good veteran backup and sign another veteran that gets bought out, this team will be pretty good.

One front office executive says Melo is "on board" with signing w/ NJ if Nets get Detroit part done. "He wants to play with Rip" source says

http://twitter.com/#!/Chris_Broussard

League exec just said Den-Det-NJ deal is "at the 10-yard line".

Yeah, I've been hearing people saying it doesn't make any sense for weeks and weeks.

Knicks fans who believed that Melo would refuse to go to anywhere but NY were being delusional as I've been saying for weeks. His priority was the extension. The idea that he had all the leverage over Denver was absolutely nuts. He couldn't get the extension anywhere because Denver isn't willing to trade him to anywhere.

So does Amar'e. You guys aren't contenders. In fact you ARE the 7 seed. :)

He took that 100 million contract instead of signing elsewhere for less. See where I'm getting at?

I think there will be lots of Knick fans flooding these Melo threads once/if he gets traded to NJ .. Talking about how they matchup against them and how stupid it is from Melo ..
