You said it. Enough of this charade.

Fields is not only a highly impressive young player, he's a great kid. You don't give up young, quality players with high character in order to sell your soul to the WWW of the world.

It's just wrong.

Carmelo still refuses to answer "extension" questions personally, but his agent Leon Rose is indicating a deal with Jersey would sway him .

Melo needs to man up and answer the damn question.

Alex Raskin: sources close to the negotiations just told me that they "heard it from the horse's mouth," that Melo will sign with the #Nets. 1 minute ago

This explanation seems to tie it all up together -- it explains everything really.

this makes the most sense imo.

Basically Rose is making sure all the homework is done and all options are open. If Rose says Melo only goes to NY then there would be extreme gridlock. If Rose tells NJN to push on and reports back that Melo eventually says NO then everyone's ass on Melo's side is covered.

If Melo says yes..

Yeah, it's usually Kahn or Ernie Grunfeld that foils us.

Plus, there was an article on the WT that mentioned Denver trying to involve the Wolves, so it could be legit.

Thank God. Carmelo want his money, but he also said that he knows the risk he'll be taking by not signing the extension. He's well aware that he possibly won't get all of his money. He doesn't want to play for the Nets. No matter how much his agents push him there, he doesn't want to go there. Carmelo is a grown man, with millions of dollars from basketball, a Jordan deal, his own movie company that did a great documentary on Tyson, and he has a wife that has a lot of money as well. No move he make will be financially motivated. He doesn't want to play for the Nets. He's not going to go there, unless he has some guarantee from big named players that they're signing there.

When did I advocate trading Fields in my post? I was simply speculating on the possible back-channeling between Leon Rose and the Denver Nuggets to get the Knicks to cave.

Same type of between the lines thinking we had to hear from you all summer long.

Melo's about to make a TV special called "The Decision: Part 2" where we endlessly discuss Carmelo's achievements for a half hour then he tells the world if he will accept or decline the extension.

Hopefully this gets done soon. The Knicks need to start building around what they have, not what they hope for.
