Let's hope no one from ESPN is reading this board...you might give them ideas...

Nah, it puts them in a significantly worse position than Denver is in now when take into account depth.

Well okay that's not a far off observation either. I simply think Melo feels he's above and beyond 1rst round loser status and wants the glory in trying to turn a franchise around again. I've always maintained he's a selfish malcontent ball stopping overrated talented loser...who is retreating in a sappy pouting fashion from failure.

Enjoy the swamp and Jersey Shore Melo an shame on all those idiotic fans with Melo Knick jerseys...mfers never learn I tell you

I agree with Bluest on this one.

Melo acting like a punk-ass b*tch is nothing new to us.

If he signs with the Nets and they bring back Billups and Hamilton that team will be good. I have a hard time believing he is going there without a promise from CP3 or some big named player.

Dude just a month ago he said Denver has been home for his whole career "WHY WOULD I WANT TO LEAVE THIS PLACE" guess what a month ago they kind of got into a winning groove....lol @ this baby fat chipmunk chunk butt loser

I wonder what would happen if this deal died also. Would NJ and DEN keep trying?

It has been his home for his whole career. I don't recall the why would I want to leave comment, but the franchise and city did nothing to him where they forced him to leave or anything. If he want to go somewhere else its because of his preference. That's it. You're trying to make this into an attack on his character. The guy did nothing wrong. FFS, he didn't even get traded yet.

Oh man the twitteratti are in full twittwat screech mode now....

The whole Petro thing is probably an 'out' for a pending deal of Melo says 'no go'. That way the parties involved can keep the pressure on Melo to sign but also save face and say, 'still looking for another team to complete deal'. Trust me, the Nets won't let Petro stop a deal of Melo is signing. They will gladly eat the idea of having to move him if push came to shave and it was holding up the deal.

Seriously... is anyone really falling for that?

It's really sad how stupid the media truly is. Simply trolling a random message board would educate them.

If Melo agrees to this.

He is more of a tool than Lebron.

Lebron and Wade and Bosh took pay cuts to win.

This clown is all about the money if he agree

Carmelo Anthony is very close to becoming a Net.

“It’s closer,” one source said

“There could be an agreement by tomorrow,” another maintained.

Multiple league sources confirmed that the Nets, Nuggets and Pistons are close to agreeing on a deal that is similar, but not as exact, as the 17-player megadeal that has been discussed. But the primary pieces remain intact in the deal that now has anywhere from a dozen to 15 players. The prized chip, Anthony, would come to the Nets who also would receive Chauncey Billups from Denver and Rip Hamilton from Detroit.

That backcourt, the Nets have felt, would be enough to convince Anthony to accept an extension to play in New Jersey. The Nets, from the very first day, have been confident Anthony would be agreeable and their confidence apparently is about to be rewarded.

“There are a few matters the Nets still have to clean up,” a source maintained.

One matter was Detroit’s reluctance to accept Johan Petro in the deal but a source maintained that the matter could be resolved.

“No details but it is close,” one executive said.

It's not over until Melo says yes. Until HE says yes, not a bunch of random "league execs".
