lol, notsureifserious but original starting 5 are past their primes now with the exception of Prince.

to get the full effect they would need Ben Wallace and Tayshan as well. :)

What possible different mix of players would denver want? They got a starting PG a starting PF and a really good shooter. They aren't getting Lopez. Do they want Humphries? WTF is Denver doing?

Melo is an idiot. Why the Nets with a gutted roster. Staying put in Denver would be smarter, especially if Chauncy tries to get a buyout..

RT @SpearsNBAYahoo: To make Billups comfortable, Nets likely to agree to pay $14.2M next year instead of using $3.7M buyout, source tells Y! less than 5 seconds ago via ÜberTwitter

Nets told they had deal w/ Denver Saturday night, just needed to firm up with DET. NJ and DET have done that, and now DEN waffling again.

Denver isn't making issue of draft pick compensation but perhaps different mix of players back from Nets, sources say. Deal will sit tonite.

Billups won't really care for a buyout. In fact, I bet Billups would love to play the last year of his contract for the Nets without being bought out.

Ah, I called this awhile ago. Getting that last year turned into a guaranteed deal will make Billups a very happy player.

Even though his own agent said that he would seek a buyout?

wouldn't be surprised if Denver has halted the deal because they feel like NJ hasn't been gutted enough.

they probably wanna spite Melo and ask for more pieces. Image

Couple of things:

Melo waited 7 years for this?? Bron, Wade and Bosh all winning on South Beach, and he agrees to become the face of the rebuilding NJ Nets? A rebuilding NJN that will have no picks or players left i might add.

Who actually believes he wants to play with Rip?? If thats the case, why doesn't Denver just trade for Rip?

Exactly. Was stated that he wanted to play for a winner, and if Melo goes to NJ they're a lock to win it all this year [/green font]

what is Melo thinking... New Jersey?!? This is an awful trade. Rip may still have something in the tank, but he's getting old and Billups doesn't even want to be there.

His agent is beyond stupid if he seeks a buyout for 3.7 million, because it would mean that he (the agent) will have to take less money from a contract, unless he believes that Billups can get a muliyear/ mulimillion dollar contract at age 35 coming off a piss poor year.

what has Melo gotten himself into, if it wasn't for the league contemplating a hard cap Melo wouldn't have to do this... he would just wait until the off season and sign with who he wants, or stay with Denver and be apart of a retool.
