Melo is a luxury, but it ain't the end of the world for Knick fans if we don't get him.

New York most likely won't be able to acquire a player like Carmelo Anthony if New Jersey acquires him, because free agency is thin, and you don't have the pieces it takes to acquire a superstar. If New York misses out on Carmelo, which it appears they're going to, I see no reason why any Knick fan should feel confident about the off-season.

First of all Its good that the Knicks are back to respectability after a bad decade but you need superstars to make that next push. All those guys are good but they wont take you over the top. You guys struck out on Lebron and a bunch of guys. If Melo does not work out Chris Paul is the only superstar left that has a chance of being traded. Im sure someone will cue up the Dwight rumours but his team has been playing really well lately. It seems like teams dont want to play ball with the Knicks.

They can still get guys like DeAndre Jordan and Greg Oden this summer. :P

not even close to superstar talent but both would compliment Amare really well.

if this goes through and both rip and melo goes to the nets, it's hard to see a situation where cp3's agent won't land him there too

I would think the organization and it's fans have higher expectations. They can focus on a borderline star player(s), but the superstars are running thin, and are just about established with the team they're going to be on long-term.

It isnt just Melo the player going to the Nets. The team is moving to Brooklyn and they re a player now in any trade/FA signing. The Knicks had Amare as a premier guy to attract any stars and now the Nets have Carmelo (if the trade goes through).

But its going to be great for the NBA to have two successful NY teams...

Denver fans booing Melo at the Pepsi Center. If the Nuggets' FO had any hesitations, fans are trying to ease them at the moment.

I think the knick would be thinking more marc gasol. I mean hes a unrestricted free agent after this that they could really use and does he really wanna be on the grizzlies?

No, Gasol is a restricted free agent this summer.

Memphis can still be out bidded for him ...

and they likely will because they have to re-sign Randolph, they're gonna lose Mayo as well I'm guessing all just to keep Randolph and stay under the tax, paying Rudy, Mayo, Gasol and Z-Bo would make them go bankrupt.

Don't forget Conley.

Are the Nets aware that if they pull off this deal, Billups will want a buy-out? That seems like a big issue...

Nets need to realize that Melo doesn't wanna play there.

This from Incarcerated Bob of rotoinfo and NY talk radio's twitter: **BREAKING NEWS** Carmelo Anthony has officially told NJ he will accept the trade to the Nets. All that is left is Physicals (Alot of them) Usually pretty reliable.

This too:

**BREAKING NEWS** League obviously must approve players in the deal & make sure contracts match up. Carmelo has given his approval

People are still quoting Incarcerated Bob, after all the not-even-close-to-right calls he made during Free Agency this summer?

I mean, he guaranteed that his info was legit and what not that time. So why would you listen to him now?

People said the same thing about Melo's value in September, and the Nuggets are getting as good of a deal now, if not better due to saving $15+ million in the deal.

He's gotten some things right with MLB and had Gilbert Arenas trade reported before anyone else, but I realize that info on LBJ Knicks was off so he is hit or miss but this is best we have right as of late.
