You can't read too much into quotes, BUT look at this:

AFTER NUGGETS-KNICKS GAME AT MSG:

Of course, the Nuggets could decide to trade him to any of the teams in the league. So Anthony was asked: What happens if they trade you to a team you don't want to play for?

"I don't think that's going to happen," Melo said.

AFTER TONIGHT'S GAME:

Melo: "I haven't heard anything on that... Speculation as of right now. So Masai and Josh aren't here... I don't see that happening.''

Pretty similar word choice and potentially similar context.

Sources close to the negotiations have told HOOPSWORLD that they "heard it from the horse's mouth" that Anthony will, in fact, sign a three-year $65 million extension should he be traded to New Jersey.

You really gotta feel bad for this kid Favors. His rookie season and the Nets organization keeps trying to pawn him off. He's in limbo. This is not the way to treat a lottery rook. :nonono: I can't wait to see him off of the Nets yet I sympathize with him if he ends up in Denver. Catch 22.

I agree, but looking at it from another angle.... If Melo was on board, what do we expect him to say to a reporter after a loss in the locker room. . . ' yeah, I heard that, I think I may be going' or 'Yeah, maybe' . . .of course not, so idk

I'd expect him to say something more like "We'll see what happens" and I would not expect him to say "Not at all" if he was looking forward to getting out of Denver soon.

da just said leon rose is working this whole thing with the hope that he can convince melo when he gets in front of him. also says this is probably it for jersey. no deal and they'll give up.

Well one big thing here is that the Nets are clearing salary and can tell Melo that they plan on getting CP3. I think that's a big part of Leon's idiotic plan. But again, idiotic plans can work.

And as we said earlier all Leon Rose cares about is his paycheck. This just proves it.

That Gallo comment not even worth tackling, as it is far from the truth, and more important things to discuss.

Did anyone see any of the Den. game tonight? I was flipping through all the games on NBALP before the Knick game, and man the Hornets brought it to them (dominated most of the game), you can tell it's on everyones mind in Denver, that something is about to go down.

that was posted in the last thread. A Bulls fan reported that, one who hates the Knicks. Disregard.

Can't blame Melo for not leaving money on the table and I damn sure can't blame the Knicks for not breaking up the team to just get Melo...I am damn sure another deal will suddenly happen as soon as the Melo-drama comes to an end, one way or another.

Donnie has been a master chess player thus far.

I highly doubt Melo will waste 2 years of his prime playing in Newark on the offchance that Chris Paul, who is already battling knee issues, will sign with the Nets when he can just say "no" one more time and play with his best friend for a team on the rise in the best city in the world

Listen just stop it and use your common sense. If Melo wanted out of dodge and didnt care where, he would've been in a Nets Jersey in August.

I know this makes me a vindictive bastard but MORE than the Knicks getting Melo -- which I'm blah about -- I would *love* to see Melo reject this trade that WWW/Rose are going around telling everybody Melo will approve.

That would really damage them professionally and I'd love that.

Well guys, all I really have to say to this is...not to long ago Melo himself said "I'm just like Lebron". No matter how anybody view Lebron & his decision to join Miami, 1 thing to take from that is that Lebron chose a team that he wanted to win with no matter of how popular the chose is to the fans, players he knew he could gel with for years of his contract duration & even took less money to do so.

If Melo really decides to go to the Nets, then Melo being "just like Lebron" is a lie straight from his mouth & makes him really all about money & being in the tri-state area a major reason.

There is no way in hell that Melo can be convinced that aging players in Billups & RIP [who won't be there by the time Brooklyn happens] along with Lopez can be his Wade, Big Z, & Bosh. & With trading for Melo, Nets won't even have many draft picks to help them. Granted we got Fields in the 2nd round, but you can't assume 1 or 2 players in mid to late 1st round picks in the next 3 yrs will even play as good. So it would be Melo, aging players who used to be nice, & non-factor role players with MLEs here & there. [hmmm. Sounds like when the Knicks traded for Marbury to me. ]

Point is, I'm so fed up with this whole situation that I can care less if he even goes to the Nets now. That would just give us a month to look around the league for smart good trades to do without moving key pieces unless "another superstar" states his passion of wanting to take talents elsewhere, lol.
