Alright, for the 2nd time, they made the decision not to go after Mayo BEFORE the fight on the plane. The two are unrelated.

Re: No Longer Interested in Mayo?
QUESTION: now that it is seeming likely that new jersey will acquire melo and not the knicks, will the knicks still be willing to move him even though their primary reason was to get a pick to package for melo? i know they are still looking for a back up point guard but are they really gonna trade him for bassy and maybe the utah pick without melo in play? i really want him here to play maybe 18-20 mins at backup center(sorry pek, love you but i believe randolph could still turn into a very special player - i think you're gonna be very, very solid in time too) and move tolly over to back up pf.

It would depend on what else happened with them. If they filled the hole at the backup point spot then they wouldn't need Telfair anymore. But assuming they don't I think they still would. Turning someone they don't play into someone they have use for and a 1st would be a good deal for any team.
